Bow your head to the Sultan, infidel!

The King of Kings, the great Osman, the ruler of three continents, the one who only bows to Allah himself. His lands are endless. His armies are inexhaustible. His Janisarries are fearless. His guns are without number. Bow your head to the Sultan! Or face the full strength of the one true faith.

Why aren't the Turks showing their dominance in the Levant and Iraq? Why doesn't the most modernized, historically significant Muslim state come out and crush these pretenders?
What say the Euros? Would you support a militarized Turkey? Would you support the Anatolians exerting more influence in the mid East?
Also post pictures of Ottoman stuff. Artwork, weapons, armor, architecture.
Ottoman music as well. The Ottoman marching band was one of the most important tools of the Sultan. With his awesome band and his mighty artillery, he could reduce the enemy defenses to the rubble.

we'll never bow down to filthy t*rks
I've been a bit curious as to what would have happened had the Otter Men survived WWI and hung on long enough for them to take advantage of all that oil by the time WWII comes around
>>472671
>His Janisarries are fearless
Too fearless, as it turned out.
Anyone know what movie this is from? This looks like a badass depiction of the battle of Mohacs but I cannot translate Turkish.
Can anyone figure out what movie this is?

Well I think the strength of the Ottoman Military system needs to be appreciated, because the only other oriental power to seriously challenge European military strength was Imperial Japan for a brief period after 1900.
Never again did an Eastern force present the same opposition in terms of military strength until the Japs, and that was far more brief than the influence the Sultan exerted over Europe.
The King of France was his ally. What other eastern power could ever achieve that?
>>472671
You sound autistic
>>472671
>Why aren't the Turks showing their dominance in the Levant and Iraq? Why doesn't the most modernized, historically significant Muslim state come out and crush these pretenders?
The reason Turkey managed to survive WWI without getting split up by European powers was Ataturk taking control, and then promising not to expand Turkish territory
As much as Erdogan rolls back what Ataturk established, he has yet to go full imperialist
That being said, Turkey is starting to "show dominance" by getting involved in the fighting in Syria/Iraq. Problem is, its a very complicated situation, and no one wants to show too much initiative lest it spirals into WW3. But I did hear that Turkey has sent troops into Iraq and routinely bombs PKK positions
>Would you support the Anatolians exerting more influence in the mid East?
I'm not a big fan of the current government, but I guess it's preferable to the Saudis exerting influence
Considering the shit that is the ME, Greece, and parts of the Balkans, I wouldn't mind a new Ottoman Empire

I find Ottomans during their declining year strangely romantic and beautiful. Constantinople must have been comfy as fuck the years leading up to WW1.European sophistication , but the exotic decadent tendencies of the east. I'm romanticizing of course though..

I mean the general way orientalists depicted Ottoman society. Shisha, Hashish, and Harems and all that. BS of course, but maybe you get my drift.
>>473451
The English betrayed Greece only when it was clear Ataturk would win and probably take back all of their lands sooner or later. The only outside force that can be attributed to aiding the Turks was Bolshevik Russia
>>473451
nah, they still got a lot of armament and logistic support from the entente, its just that the british werent really keen on sending troops the ground again after ww1 just finished, especially after gallipoli. attaturk just marched his army towards towards brtish occupied constantinople with the british upper command telling the garrison there to not resist.

I think I kinda get where you're coming from. A lot of societies probably had idealisations / romanticisations of what they probably saw as exotic foreign cultures. I'm sure there were euroboos in the middle east also.

Abdulhamid was Ned Stark of Ottoman history. Too bad they both ended bad. Also he was BFF with wilhelm "fuck jews" ii.
Overall I really like Ottoman Empire even I'm not Turkish, they didn't contribute to science and art much, but they were good and proud warriors, good rulers and they kept middle east and islam bearable for centuries. They even removed Wahabbis from Arabia. Wish they were Christians tho.

>In 1481 Mehmed marched with the Ottoman army to a new campaign but when reaching Maltepe, Istanbul he became ill. After some days he died, on 3 May 1481, at the age of forty-nine, and was buried in his türbe in the cemetery within the Fatih Mosque Complex[82] He is thought to have been poisoned; one source accuses Yakub Pasha, a Jewish convert to Islam, of administering poison to Mehmed over a period of time.

If only he wouldn't give in to military cue and stayed in power for 10 more years, everything would've been different. He wouldn't participate in WW1, in fact he said he wouldn't and it was an insane thing to do. Another turning point for Ottomans were Selim iii giving into mutinists and abolishing Nizam-i Cedid. They both gave in because they didn't want to spill blood of Turks hence sealed the deal for Ottomans.
