For burgers, Trump is a great example of this (Make America great again! Everything is some other guy's fault! The media is against us!). So are Carson (God is great, Black people are lazy), Clinton (make history getting me into the white house!), and Sanders ('muh 1%', any "progressive" idea is projected on him, no matter what he actually says he believes in), to an extent.

The Reich was well aware that their anti-semitic viewpoint was not popular in the rest of the world. During 1936 before the summer olympics a lot of anti-semitic propaganda was lifted from the streets so that the outside world would not see it. Hitler was also very wary of diplomatic relations with other countries during their early 30's and believed that England and the US was "run by jews", which meant that they did not look favourably at a germany which was actively oppressing them.
Now the actual holocaust was never meant to be made a public story. It was a secret during all of ww2. Most germans knew of it, or that "something was going on in the east" because soldiers on leave would spill their beans and eventually rumours spread.
Germany intended to win the war. Hitler believed in his cause. His goal was a strong germany that would not need good relations with the US. He also believed many would come around to him. He was certain Britain would capitulate after Dunkirk for instance.

Hitler was a father figure for the nation, almost god-like.
Its hard to say no to your father, you do what he says. Things might go badly but like a family you feel like you have to stick with it. Which is what a lot of germans did, even when they were losing.
