Is Greek fire just an ancient meme or do you believe it actually existed even though it has never been able to be recreated?
It sounds a lot like napalm, tbqh.
That's some dank meme considering it won battles.
>>435748
It actually existed dumbass
>>435788
>he's never heard of meme magic
Probably existed, probably wasn't even that difficult. People came up with similar stuff through the middle ages.
>From 3000 BC fire had been recognized as a decisive weapon in siege warfare. Unfortunately -- or perhaps fortunately -- the ingredients of Greek fire were less readily available in Europe than they had been in the Middle East, but a considerable quantity seems to have been used. The formula for perfect Greek fire may be as much of a legend as the recipe for alchemy but, short of perfection, there were some very useful recipes. Accounts of 'Greek fire' suggest that petroleum and oil formed a large part of its constituents, for it would burn on water, and developed intense heat. Bitumen, sulphur, resin, naptha and pitch may well have figured in some recipes. One formula could apparently be blown through tubes. But its main use was to make incendiary arrows, which were used as late as the siege of Bristol in the English Civil War in 1643.

Greek fire and boiling oil are overblown, hot sand is my wallfu
>>435748
It was recreated. It used some variation of raw oil and corn.
>>435807
>corn
Isn't that impossible? Did the Greek sail to Mexico and borrow some corn?
>>435751
This, t(o) b(e) h(onest).
>>435813
Not american corn dumbass, learn a thing or two about Rome
>>435813
THANK YOU CORN FATHER
>>435827
Why didn't you say wheat or grain or whatever instead?
>>435846
See but that's what I'm talking about, that kind of corn didn't exist back then. But apparently "corn" also just means any type of grain. What the fuck man, who comes up with this shit?
>>435858
Ignore this and post more corn
Maizesystem is real
>>435860
Pretty sure everywhere outside the US calls corn-on-the-cob Maize. but I could be wrong.
>>435841
Because it was called corn
>>435846
Romans didn't have fucking corn wtf. Did they?
>>435903
What we call cereal crops now-a-days was all lumped under the term Corn then, maize was one of those Corn crops after it was discovered only later was Corn synonymous with Maize
>>435919
So Rome traded with the new world?
>>435748
Bring the oil in the pot, add fuse, do that job, and load it to ballista, let's show to the barbarians their vista!
>>435931
No, I'm saying that cereal crops were still called corn in most places all the way up until the European conquest of the new world
>>435957
Then how did Rome get them if they were from the New world?
>>435748
>it has never been able to be recreated?
napalm?
>>435896
The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on
>>435960
they traded with the chinese
>>435960
Goddamn it anon, are you trying to be this thick or are you trolling? It wasn't maize (corn), it was some other cereal, but it was called Corn.
>>435960
not him but nice reading comprehension!
>>436022
I have sometimes heard the anus referred to as one's "corn hole."
Is this in line with you are getting at?
>>435751
It's literally just ancient napalm. It does exactly the same thing.
>>435813
HAHAHAHAHAHA YOU ARE SO STUPID
>>436072
I really, really, really, really like this picture.
>>436162
thanks, you can have it.
I can't wait to have some delicious corn with milk in the morning lads
>>436470
But what does it have to do with caesar? I haven't read him, only fragments and none of them in english or related to corn.
>>436470
I wouldnt say its embarassing for some random guy to not know it can mean cereals in general instead of the thing that grows from maize.
>>435846
I'm absolutely laughing my ass off at the absurdity of this image. Anyone with even the faintest knowledge of history would know that the "corn" that Caesar speaks of in Commentaries On The Gallic War is not the corn that we in the west are familiar with, but is rather a poor translation for the word "grain" which in Latin is "Frumentum"
Myself and many others who have read the commentaries would know what you're trying to refer to with your image but it's wrong. Unless of course you were already aware of this and you are posting this ironically. In which case I commend you for your post but it's still blatantly wrong. I would have gone with a collage of images of wheat instead.
7/10
>>437125
Would pasta be refered to as corn in the comentarii?
>>435748
It existed. Its existence is clearly fucking attested to by a variety of non-conflicting primary sources.
>>436052
except they didn't have gasoline
>>435748
Trolls ITT.
WTF diff does it make if it was corn or any other starchy stuff to soak up the petrochemical concoction they brewed up?
>>437219
>WTF diff

>>435846
THANK YOU CORN FATHER
It wasn't any more advanced than molotoiv cocktails you autists
>>435896
No. Corn is an English word that used to mean gain and still does in some dialects. The modern English translation of the word is grain. Corn would be found on older translations only.

It's bizarre that this phenomenon never gets covered in that occult thread considering it's happening.
Seems as if they're content to just circlejerk over that one fag's library.
>>435807
I hope you mean maize.
Check your privileges.
It's most likely just Napalm fired from a cannon. Hell, it was likely made from crude oil that was called Naphtha by the greeks. Without a doubt, it was a very crude napalm.
I happen to know what it smells like.
