That leap didn't really go as planned, did it?

he was a pretty good revolutionary leader
except when it came to economic development, industrialism, and non oppressive communism

Knew his way around guerrilla warfare. Everything else? Not so much.

Xiaoping unfucked China.
>>
i believe he was a fucking genius because he managed to have people love him even though millions of deaths were his fault. He was a dick though

I think he was a good leader because he had flagrant socialist farts and fucked a lot of women.

Has anybody here read Private Life of Chairman Mao? It has to be my favorite book.

Firstly, shitty economic policies.

Secondly, shitty policies with ethnic minorities.

Thirdly, fucking dumbass haircut.

Should have stepped down from power after the Chinese civil war T B H

He was a fucking savant when it came to guerrilla warfare and probably went into the revolution with the best of intentions. Once he came to power though, he suffered from poor foresight in both his policies and ideology he founded. Caused a lot of strife in his lifetime, be it economically, for development of national industry, or ethnic tensions. His failures essentially ensured that his successors would quickly stray from the communist goals he had helped fight for, while his cult of personality and governmental centralization ensured that said government would retain authoritarian control. Thus the seeds of the modern authoritarian state capitalist China we see today were sown long before the revolutionary dream had even grown cold.

>policies with ethnic minorities
>shitty
He managed to secularized the Muslims and Tibetans who were basically like the Saudis today. People were freed to marry whoever they want and no shits like hijab were required.
They shitty one was Hu "sjw" Yaobang, who reversed Mao's policy completely and released all the minority upperclass clergies and landlords who Mao persecuted to gain the trust of the lower class minorities (not the best way but it worked). And you can tell that the released ones wouldn't be glad simply by being released, while the lower class are also pissed off now. Some Uyghur girls I talked to mentioned that their mothers and aunts are way more liberal than them in terms of religious restrictions like hijab.
>>
>>396282
No, the sole fucking reason why Tibetan separatism and Uyghur terrorism exists in China today is because of Mao's faggotry and pussyfooting around the issue.

Should have killed the Dalai Lama, Sincized the Tibetans and gassed the Uyghurs while they had the chance.
>>
>>396287
That was basically his policies.
And Hu Yaobang reversed it.
Then post-2000s commies went back to Mao's ones.
And you can tell how much an inconsistent policy could harm.

>That was basically his policies.
>And Hu Yaobang reversed it.

No, that was not Mao's idea. It was Wang Zhen's idea to militarily control the Uyghurs. Mao's idea focuses more on cult of personality surrounding himself. And he really did try to convince Uyghurs and Tibetans with affection.

Didn't fucking work at all.

Hu Yaobang did go full retard and give ethnic minorities special privileges, and gave huge lenience to Uyghurs and Tibetans starting shit. And that made it worse.

>Then post-2000s commies went back to Mao's ones.
And you can tell how much an inconsistent policy could harm.

And they're failling to control the situation badly, because the CCP is still trying to pussyfoot around the situation, don't want to step on any eggshells metaphorically.

Motherfuckers should be making an omelette fit for kings

Much smarter and more accomplished than many want to admit. Fell into the authoritarian trap and started believing his own hype as well as over-centralizing.

People are too quick to dismiss Maoist China economically out of defensive ideology since they were probably raised in a society that considers him their blood enemy. There is an excellent opportunity for rough comparison with capitalist India next door. Note how the lifespan spikes up after the supposedly horrible GTL forward? That much lauded famine didn't even put a dent compared to all the life saving/extending modernization that was going on. It's no easy feat to keep such a large swath of previously feudal land unified and stable (for business interests if nothing else), educate them, defeat old superstitions and cultural inefficiencies, modernize its infrastructure, keep opportunities for corrupting in check. In fact, almost no one has managed to do this.

Here's a cool little American documentary made by NBC done very neutrally, back when responsible competent journalism was still a thing

Most of the shots were taken in the late 50s when Mao was hot off the presses and the party was trying to go max Commie. You can clearly see the signs of ordnung. imo you can already see that China will be different from other 3rd world countries that merely have "potential".
