Gee, for a board about critical thinking the mods sure don't seem to think so much.
>>
Anthropology isn't rigidly a social science. It's sort of a mixture between science and humanities, depending on the branch/discipline.

Because psychology is a fucking joke, it shouldn't even be considered a soft science. There's nothing scientifical or empirical about psychology.
It's just a bunch of dudes making shit up depending on their morals and their life experiences.

History and anthropolgy are basically the same discipline. Had you ever heard something called "Archeology"?.

Depends on which aspect of anthropology.
Most departments carve the discipline into four subdivisions: archaeology, ethnography, linguistic, and biological.

Biological anth and archaeology are very close to full blown science and you'll see a lot of double majors in proper STEM or at least a minor. Ethnography and linguistics tend toward more observation/taxonomy than anything, but you can get into some nifty and off-the-wall statistical analyses out of the better researchers.

Anthropology intersects with history because it gives insights into the history of humanity before history was being recorded.

Psychology is what you major if you're a girl looking for a husband full time on campus.

>"Archeology"

You mean like those things Europeans domesticated?

you guys dk shit. psychology, of all social sciences, is the one that relies mostly on quantitative research instead of qualitative and works hand in hand with the hard sciences like neurology.

are you kidding me right now? psychology pretty much never relies in qualitative research. do you know what these words mean?

are you confusing psychology with psychoanalysis?
>>
>>345403

And if you weren't spending all your time on campus looking for a husband, you would realize that what you said has no relevance to history.

you're thinking of philosophy dumbass

are you fucking retarded? it's HISTORY AND HUMANITIES. can you read?

nice ad hominem. kill yourself you mouthbreather.

Hold on, little lady. You just said that psych is a social science in that last post, not a humanities field, and certainly not pertinent to history. No need to get hysterical, miss.
>>
I have given up hope in ever having a nice discussion on psychology in this site, neither on /his/ and much less on /sci/. May I remind you this place is sperg and meme central? It's just cool to hate, both in the hard sciences and in the humanities, and specially here.
You have absolute retards like >>345304 every time psychology is mentioned, thinking they're hot shit for spewing pop culture misconceptions, and in general it seems like there's almost no one here with any real knowledge on the field. So, you're left with pop psych headline-muncher idiots as the kind of people that ask anything about it, and retards like the guy I quoted as the people giving the answers, which in turn give the field an even worse name in this site. Repeat ad nauseam.
Yes I mad.

Anthropology is only deemed a social science by the boards of education due to the context of what anthropologists study, humans. Most anthropologists have a strong sense of history, especially in regards to whatever geographic area or culture their studying.

>How hur dee dur
Because Anthropologists study humans in all forms and largely rely on written and oral histories as well as the archaeological record to perform their various methodologies.

If you knew a god damn think about anthropology or archaeology (Sect of anthropology) you'd know why its methodology and works can be and is often employed in places where history is discussed.

You probably don't even use real psychology here but try to up your own ass in theoretical thinking to make yourself think you're "Deep" when not providing real substance to any discussion on history at all.

Anthropologists, especially experienced ones, can discuss historical contexts with ease in a variety of schools of thought outside of psychology.
>>
Because anthropology is a broad field that includes historical evidence of weapon production and genotypes.

>social sciences don't get any.. laws

is this guy retarded?
