Can someone explain the Society of St. Pius X?
Are they Catholic or a schism?
Are their sacraments recognized by the Catholic Church?
Why are they so mad at the Vatican?

They're basically french fash.
The Church wishes them to reenter communion. From their perspective the Church is heretical.
They are outside of communion but from December are being given a year to conduct confessions.
Because they're french Fash.

>Fash
Fit and sexy hot?

Basically:
>you have to do what the church says or you are a heretic!
>if the church says something I don't like then it's heresy!
Why did they name themselves after Pope Pius X?

They're schism.

He was super-anti modernist.

They aren't schism. They are a heresy. Schism is a split over non-doctrinal (usually personal) issues. The breakup between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches was a schism, because it happened over a dick wagging contest between the Pope and Patriarch. Doctrinal differences accumulated only later with time.
The PXs walked away because they didn't like the direction in which the Church was going. It's a doctrinal issue, which makes them heretics from the mainstream Catholic POV.
They reject the Second Vatican Council.
Basically they're Catholics the way Catholicism used to be before it turned into postmodern hippie garbage.
I live close to their head church.
In 1977, SSPX abbots and their supporters invaded the church and celebrated a mass in it, then kicked out the local priest and vicar, and have been illegally occupying the church ever since. They celebrate mass in Latin according to the old rites, organise religious processions through the streets of Paris, and it's become the religious centre of the French far right traditionalist movement.

Of, so "fash" earlier in this thread is really "fasc."
>>342386
Are there many of them in Paris and France?
>>342390
The contraction of fascist to a noun is fash, not fasc.
>>342392
A fair amount.
Actual far right groups are numerous but very small, but in a broader sense Catholic traditionalism has recently turned into a large militant movement.
>>342424
Just say fascist, you tool.

They think he was the last "real pope", they crazies. In France during the celebration of the revolution the Society holds a march demanding a return to monarchy....
How is SSPX attendance? Are their numbers dropping like the Catholics?
