Has there ever been a dictator who changed his country for the better more than this guy?
He's definitely the most successful that's lived in our lifetime at least.

>changed his country for the better
Even if you're a nazi you should disagree since his failure pushed Germany in the completely opposite direction and the war ended with Germany literally getting raped and partitioned.
Pinochet, Franco, and Tito to name a few.

>Franco
>Tito
Spain is the second worst country in western Europe (behind Portugal) and Yugoslavia broke apart as soon as Tito died

Germany would probably be a Poland-tier shithole without Marshall aid and the abolishment of Germany's previous debts.
Given the state China was left after Mao, Deng's work is a goddamn miracle.
>>306030
dis nigga didnt do too badly
>>306037
Hitler absolutely THRASHED germany though. He left it in utter ruins, all the men were dead, the women were getting raped. He could have prevented it too, by slowing down the soviet and capitulating to the americans/british.

If you like shopping malls
Park Chung Hee

Tito was pretty benevolent for a commie dictator.
Rome would have crumbled like Alexander's empire if it weren't for Octavian

If he hadn't fucked up the civil war he wouldn't need to resist mainland China because he'd be running it.

>Russians mass rape German women and destroy Berlin and greater Germany
>fucking Hitler

That's not true, the japs did do infrastructure building (dams and roads and such). He was also guaranteed to be defended by murrica.

>have non-aggression pact with Russia
>invade Russia anyway, which hasn't been successful since the Mongols, because muh Judeo-Bolshevism
>while Britain is still unconquered
>keep the war going on your terms despite the advice of your experienced generals
At least he built highways

Blame the socialists that the King of Spain put back in power after Franco died and gave power to the monarchy.
So bismarck wasn't really a dictator unless you stretch the term a bit but he really deserves a mention.
>>307846
>left it a leading world economy with diplomatic ties strong enough to resist mainland China
Not saying much since this amounted to being the American empire's gimp.
>>308327
Shit meme, /pol/, step your game up
Paul Kagame.
Takes over after arguably Africa's worst modern genocide, first as the man behind the man then as president, keeps the peace and strengthens its economy to a standard surpassing its neighbours despite massive ethnic divisions and reduces child mortality and malarial rates

If any Maoist would've been left in charge China would still be a shithole. Developing a legacy of pragmatism was probably the best thing that has happened to China's leadership practices in a century or two.
>>306946
Wow I'd never seen Gaddafi young before, he was a handsome fuck
>>307846
Japan had actually modernsied Taiwan a lot. By the time the Japs were kicked out it had higher levels of literacy, education and economic development than most of China.

Ultimately then Franco failed, or if the dictatorship perpetuated, it still would have failed because support for it had declined a lot by the late 1970s. Had Spain not been taken over by a coup d'etat the socialists at least could have proven earlier that they were bad at governing, as you say. That would have allowed for a right wing coalition to take over peacefully. But instead Franco had to overthrow the regime, wreck the economy and cause untold suffering all to see spain revert once again into the socialist (center left-wing mind you) mode that continues to have resonance with the lower and middle classes. He basically failed to halt the inevitable
