To celebrate the new board, I thought it would be cool to have a fun thread where you post historical stuff you bought. Primarily historical texts if you have them, but fiction set in time periods of your choice, and miscellaneous items related to history are cool too.
Pic related, a recent purchase I got at my university's book sale. Has a great amount of pictures in it both in black and white and color, and was a steal at two bucks. Also got a collection of Ulysses S. Grant's memoirs as well, some great stuff.
I got this in the Afghanistan Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World's Fair.

It's in storage right now, but I have a 20 kopek coin from the Soviet union. Stalin's death sentence coin. It's pretty cool.

I will be doing this in about 13 hours time
Expect a fair amount of items and documents

Hey /his/, I think I may have an 'artifact' here, but I'm not sure if it's legitimate. My Grandfather fought for the Italian army during the Second World War (I know that to be true at least), and he recently gifted me some binoculars that he claims to have used during the war, but their condition makes me suspect that that may not be entirely true. I was wondering if anyone here could help me verify the authenticity of my binoculars. Thanks.

I can't verify that myself, but I suggest looking in your area for a museum or someone who specializes in military antiquities to verify them with you, don't go to a pawn shop or whatever.

I like poking around for coins, so far these boys turned up.

The three on top are obvious enough, but what's the one at the bottom? Looks like Cyrillic characters, so I'm guessing Soviet/Imperial Russian?

not /pol/, but I think that's really fucking cool.
>>16831
Thanks I'll definitely try that.

It's a bulgarian coin minted in celebration of 1300 years of bulgaria's existence as a country. Shit is cash.

thanks friend, I've got a whole lot more stuff but they're all in Manitoba and I'm busy at work here in Kekronto.
