The thing people fail to account for, is how much the Western European world dominated itself with ideologies that, in our "modern day perspective," would be considered wrong. Anti-Semitism wasn't unique, given that a large percentage of Western Europe demonized them and most people didn't care for them, because they weren't as "integrated" as other sects of the population were. Anti-Socialism was fairly commonplace amongst Western European politics, so again, it is not unusual that Churchill would argue against it so heavily. Adolf Hitler merely openly appreciated these values and then went a step further and openly conducted operations against them in both his country and in the countries he invaded. In the end it all comes back down to "accounting for" these given variables.
