This really is a stupid question, because your consciousness is never "continuous" in any real sense.

If the brain actually fully ceased activity when you fall asleep and started up again in the morning I would be inclined to agree with you, but this is not the case. Your brain is still fully active when you sleep with all your important thoughts and memories safely stored away. You remain a continuous entity and nothing is lost.
