At least least Hitler realized after the Munich incident that he had to acclimatize the common citizenry to his way of thinking, and had the good sense to know he needed allies from different circles to get it done. The communists isolated everyone and then by overthrowing the Bavarian state while Germany was at its weakest was pretty much the death of voluntary communism until the Soviets seized half the country.
