In all honesty, it's most likely to be either nuclear war or nuclear fallout/winter caused by other nuclear wars. If Pakistan and India unloaded their arsenals on each other then the world would basically descend into a nuclear winter Holocaust with mass starvation everywhere, not to mention the radioactivity in the immediate blast regions and the atmosphere. The environmental damage that would be caused by hundreds of nukes going off in one subcontinent at one time would be catastrophic, no government would be able to support itself, especially multi regional, large powers like the USA. While I am highly skeptical of the claim that Nuclear winter is poo sci, the damage caused by a Pakistani Indian nuclear war, or any other significant nuclear war between two nuclear powers would be enough to achieve the same effect.

Eventually, a state, or states, are going to say "enough", and want to get the fed leftists and urbanites off their backs, and the "nation" will divide into regional factions, much like Europe.
The only question is how much blood will be shed during the process.
