A full campaign into China would require resources that Japan couldn't make on its own. When the allies made it clear they wouldn't be supporting Japan in any manner by embargoing their oil, they were doomed from the start.

Plus, even if they managed to conquer China, enjoy your biggest guerilla campaign in history led by Mao Zedong. It would've required an army of millions to subdue a China led by the CCP.

It doesn't matter about manpower if there is no equipment. USA and other Allies helped China a lot in supplies and weaponry that China becomes able to repel Japanese attacks, I think that about 70% of Japanese army was fighting in China and Chinese with enormous manpower and foreign help could handle most of attacks.
