So why does no one mention the several attacks Poles made on Germans when discussing the invasion of Poland? Because that is a Casus Belli for war and if anything means it was a German war of Polish aggression.

No, i'm not memeing, just wondering why you never hear of those attacks.

The "Casus Belli" was the impending crash of the German economy

GLEIWITZ WAS AN INSIDE JOB! POLISH SAPPERS CAN'T DESTROY GERMAN RADIO STATIONS!

But seriously, most Casi Belli in history were just excuses to wage open war upon another nation, so a nation would either look/wait for one or sit would even stage one. A notable example would be the destruction of Carthage: after the second war, Carthage was forced to disband its army and sink most of its fleet, but soon after raids from african tribes began (either Numidians or Mauritanians, can't remember specifically), forcing the carthaginians to secretly recruit a militia for the sole purpose of defending their border territories from the raiders. This "angered" the romans, whom would not listen to any of the carthaginians' reasons behind this break of the pacts on their end, and went full GARDAGO DELENDA ESD :DDDD. This was in fact just a pretext they were looking for in order to deliver the final blow upon carthage, annex its territories and get rid of a powerful enemy while doing all of this without any loss of diplomatic reputation.
This event was not staged, of course, but it gives you an insight on how Casi Belli actually worked in the political world.

A more noob but non-historical example would be a mission in Mount&Blade: Warband where a lord from faction X asks you to attack travelers or caravans from faction Y so that the former are forced to defend from the latter and the more belligerent lords of faction X get what they wanted: an occasion to clobber some enemy peasants and their lords.
