The right wing was pretty pissed becaused CEDA (conservatist party) won the last elections but the president of the republic (Who was a leftist) decided to make president another guy (Lerroux), who ruled a more centralist party just because he wanted.

In 1936 it seemed like the right wing would win again, so the left wing decided to join every political party into a single one (Including socialist stanilist trotskist anarchist etc etc) and they won. It was a very closed victory and the right and the left became even more divided because they accused each other of electoral fraud.

Then the right wing became desperate enough to support a fascist regime and the military that was tired of all this shit (and mostly the cuts in funding from the leftist) decided to intervene with a plan that was set up some time ago.

In the US currently, you have the most leftist republican candidate since Reagan and the most rightist Democrat since god knows how long. Class conflicts aren't a thing since 1930's, the only conflicts overall are racial ones, and those are nowadays very well handled after lessons learned from LA riots and their effects are limited.

Spain had visible class division, conflict on the catholic-secular line which was pretty politicised as defence of the Church was something more conservative, reactionary and traditionalist elements were concerned with while the the left largely considered Church as a tool in hands of monarchy and dictators they've hated.

Education created further division as workers were usually taught in mostly anarchist-organised community schools while private education in quite large part tended to be staffed with Catholic priests.

The relatively even result of election in 1936 caused growth of tensions between left and right, and eventually, assassination of some politician caused the country to explode.

Mussolini/fascists have ties with progressivism through futurism(their stance changed between the years though and in fact that was the part of their charm) and NSDAP was sure agrarian, which might seem traditional/reactionary but at the same time it was sort of "luddendorfian" as in - they wanted to turn Germany into an ancient Sparta in size of country. Which is very far from "classical" conservatism, traditionalism, reactionarism or whatever you call it.

It was a clusterfuck, the Falangists policy of National Syndicalism had more in more with the socialists than the Carlists. Franco brought a disparete right under one tent and neutered them all after they won so nothing got what they wanted except Franco brand of Religious capitalist conservatism
