It's probably not, testimonies from the Eastern Front don't make it look like as if rape was a big issue. There were a few thousand sentences by military courts, and pretty much every court opinion stresses how bad those crimes are for the relationship between the local population and the occupiers.

Because they had advanced 1,000 miles through nothing but land utterly devastated by the Germans, fighting some of the most brutal combat the world had ever seen, and seen evidence of German atrocities firsthand. On top of an already healthy base for hatred, you had the Soviets going hard on the anti-German propaganda, only making the anti-German sentiment worse.
That being said, it's not like the Soviets were wholeheartedly sanctioning rapes or even turning a blind eye to it on an institutional level as the Wehrmacht seemed to do in the East. Soviet officers were surprisingly well disciplined, to the point that Germans tended to gravitate to them for protection in recently-occupied areas.
Still, that really wasn't enough to protect people, as those officers couldn't be everywhere at once. In areas that were subjected to particularly brutal sieges and battles like Breslau, Budapest, or Berlin, estimates project something like 10-20% of women were raped.
