Yeah, the Western WA tribes would probably be significantly better than the Spanish. They were never particularly aggressive towards European encroachment save for the Puget War. I don't believe that the same can be said of the tribes on the other side of the Cascades.

Well obviously I wouldn't just walk up to a tribe acting like High Shit and try to snatch one of their women to breed superior half-breeds instantly. I'd make contact at first, whether I find them or they find me first, show my peaceful intentions, try to diffuse any initial hostilities, and try to slowly gain their trust and acceptance over time. I'd learn their language, work with the tribe, partake in their rituals, etc. I mean it's not like I'd have much other choice, if I didn't try this I'd have to rely on my own survival skills (of which I have none), and would probably perish within a week.
