The interwar period, but only compared to Romanian history.
It was still a military dictatorship.
Wealth inequality was still disastrously high, so was literacy.
Infrastructure was shit, healthcare was shit, corruption was about the same level as it is now which is fuckhuge.
The only reason it's seen as a Golden Age is because it was the only time in history when we weren't fucked in the ass by foreign powers so we got to develop some bit of culture and scientific progress.

Compared to the period before and after, this had more relative "freedom". And compared to all other periods this is when Romania as a country was the most valued and was courted by the West and envied by the other Soviet Block countries.

On a cultural level I might nominate the austro-hungarian times (I know it was only Transylvania but the rest of Romania is a turk/russian babby shithole and therefore does not matter),simply because they brought western industrialisation,way of life (to an extent) and education. (altough you had to be bozgor to fully profit of this,but I'm bozgor so fuck you lol)

Romania had an intellectual Golden Age in the 20th century, though most of it's members made careers outside of the country.
Emil Cioran, Eugene Ionesco, Mircea Eliade, Constantin Noica, etc. It was quite an output for a small and previously irrelevant country.

We were never conquerors, warriors and such - we just defended our land and our Church - and that's it, end of story - go somewhere else for good stories, and wars 'n such - nothing to see here.
After communism wich had problems with economy - Ceausescu done a shitty job with it - we inherited the broken economical system ... and then it bad for quite so time - then the communism was never gone, the same guys came in power again in a now "democratic" state - there's high level of corruption, things don't work well, country is 3/4 sold out.. and people call us gypsy online because they think it's cool - really nice.
But who cares literally, live with whatever impression you want about Romania, who cares? It's you who consume energy and keep a negative state over yourself because of some memes you read online.
