There's no point to spending the resource on a moon colony, primarily because of advances which made He-3 fall out of favor as fuel. The same resources could be spent on an under-sea colony, without the jet fuel and risks of catapulting shit through the stratosphere.

"That" plan, to move further away from Earth in stages, has now been implemented into the Mars program, to which NASA has recently announced it is dedicating it's full effort, for a successful manned landing in the 2030s. But then, who knows? Maybe we will make further significant advances in propulsion and the next logical target will be automated resource extraction in the main belt, or even Jupiter and Saturn moons.

There's just little point now to moon bases. It's an extra step we now know we don't need.

What do you call a godfag on the moon?
>A problem.

What do you call a colony of godfags on the moon?
>A big problem.

What do you call all godfags on the moon?

They're worried, if the Russians do it, USA will miss out on something. There's nothing to miss. It's a bad idea.

>Initially the agency sought to send astronauts into deep space to visit an asteroid in its native environment. However, that proved too costly and challenging, so the mission got de-scoped into bringing an asteroid back to the vicinity of the Moon. Even this proved too much, though, so now the plan is to grab a small boulder off the surface of an asteroid and bring that back to a location near the Moon where astronauts can visit it and technically fulfill the president's asteroid goal.

Because the soviet-american dick-measuring contest is over.

The Moon is no longer in danger of falling to communism, hence we don't care.

We'll see who's laughing when the United States of the Moon creates a hegemony over the earth states following our next cataclysmic war.

Considering a big part of communism is to do with economics and China hardly qualifies on the political side, yes.

Whose single party happens to be the Communist Party?
>>
>>1262177
not to whom you're replying, but China is a sort of authoritarian regime. It's not communism, else there wouldn't be the broad disparity in social classes, as a town full of poor migrant farmers and factory workers 5 miles from a busy highway with thousands of bmws and audis. That's not how communism works.

When southern China grows a set of balls and fights back, that's how you get a peasant uprising. The western provinces will fragment under a newly organized muslim religious rule, and there will be "3 chinas" almost overnight. It's all the central government can do right now to prevent that from happening, and it can't last.

Dude just wait for it - once the economy's growth goes back to normal levels and the "miracle" ends, you can bet your ass the plebs will have had enough.

Free up Tibet and also Uighurstan and also Greater Mongolia and also Hong Kong and also literally everything else.

>The western provinces will fragment under a newly organized muslim religious rule
Except it's wrong.

Muslims are minority even in the part of china they're crying about Communist Party not letting them to build masabas and tells them to send their kids to normal schools instead.
>>
Not profitable, not conducive to a war effort, no risk of the Russians or Chinese beating us there. Basically there's no reason to do it other than "Because it's awesome" and that just isn't the kind of world we live in right now.
>>
>>1262256
True. The US should work on some mean to send shit to the orbit reliably, I mean paying Russians to do it is nice buy seriously...
>>

Probably even worse this time since there's no BROHOOD AMONG PROLES to live up to.

>what is the Chinese military

The Chinese made it through the Cultural Revolution. They'll make it through economic struggles as well.

>>1262254
They are getting cucked hard. No more beheading apostates and stoning women.
>>
>>1262256
The Chinese space program is doing immensely well.

They even have a space station with astronauts in it, and have put two rovers on the moon. And have returned moon dust.

Of course, few in the West knows this.
>>
>>1262262
The usa has been in the process of outsourcing it to private companies for some time.

>>1262274
Mostly because we would see it through telescopes if it were true.
