Because it was 1945. Liberals and progressives in the media, bureaucracy and academia, who wanted to destroy Germany permanently in order to avert the possibility of World War II were countered by a conservative military and business establishment who desired a strong Germany to act as a deterrent to Soviet interests in Central Europe.

Now that conservative elements have been purged from the business world, and the military has lost all political power, the same coalition who desired to implement the Morgenthau Plan, the Jews, the intellectuals and the State Department bureaucrats, has become unhinged. The "refugee crisis" is about them finally putting their plans in motion.
