should you be able to criticize political philosophies if you don't have a better idea?

for example, the people who continually bitch about capitalism, or neoconservatism, or enlightenment ideals, without any alternative. is just arguing against something without a way to make it better (or replace it entirely) just a waste of time?
>>
Yes, absolutely. Seeing the faults in something is an important step to building better things.

You should be allowed to, because these ideas can (and always do) have flaws that are worth criticizing. That said, providing an alternative is certainly preferable.
>>
That's called the Nirvana fallacy, so probably not.
>>
Of course you can, but if at all possible you should be open about your lack of better ideas and admit that the current system is at least functional enough
>>
Yes.You should never be disallowed from criticizing something.

Especially if you can identify its faults, that's still better than noting.
>>
Yes, anyone should be allowed to criticize anything. Criticism should also be criticized. Only the best critiques should be permitted to influence policy.

>capitalism
Most people who criticize capitalism and call themselves socialists are really just ignorant social democrats (eg Bernie sanders). Aside from being very convinced by dialectics, you generally don't find any actual socialists

as in welfare capitalists?

maybe 'should' was the wrong word, but I see your points, indeed including an alternative is preferable
>>
Yes, but generally speaking you should try to come up with an working alternative.

This doesn't just apply to ideals, but work as well.

Your boss will fucking hate you if all you bring is problems with no solutions. Use your mind.
>>
Yes, why would you automatically assume that the person able to identify flaws is also able to come up with a solution, if more people are aware of a flaw then more people would be looking for solutions to it.

>welfare capitalists?
No, social democrats. Social democrats are all useful idiots. I don't even know what 'welfare capitalism' is supposed to be. Do you mean state capitalism?
>>
How do you create an alternative without addressing the flaws in the first place?
>>
abolish countries, Institute a new cultural and environmental education based on positive values(Buddhism, Aristotle, Plato), construct a resource based economy with eco friendly ideology, invest human resources in technology and robots to produce what we actually need, distribute globally through computers that calculate what is needed where, start living the best way we currently can, and what's even better is that people will have more and more time to investigate scientific endeavors of their choosing and we'll probably make space colonies in a 100 years or so, oh and we'll also save the planet.
