As you listed Gangnam style, Korea does not belong to Western culture despite what others say but it is first world, Japan too. I can see China and some South American countries becoming like this given another 40 years or so.
Mass culture has always existed, but only in a postmodern developed economy do you see such a break of mass culture with tradition, and the consumerism that is linked with it. Oy vey I guess the jewz won after all.
