What human invention has caused the most net harm to humanity as a whole?
To clarify, by net harm i mean the negative consequences that outweigh the positive consequences.
Civilization
Religion.
Agriculture.It allows for wealth and thus the accumulation of weath. Before humans more or less had no choice but to be egalitarian.

sex
Agriculture has indirectly caused the most suffering technically because there would be no civilization without it and less population so less suffering by sheer numbers, but it also is responsible for the further sophistication of humanity, so it's a double edged sword.
Religion, domestication (the source of some of the most lethal pathogens ever bar human-only hosts like smallpox), and metalworking all are double edged swords in their own respective ways too.
The one that probably has caused more harm than good is gunpowder. Sure, it's used in shit like demolition and fireworks but it's mostly been used for warfare.
Our worst discovery has been fossil fuels. Literally changing the entire planet.

Weapons were necessary to defend against predators. There are still people who get killed by bears and mountain lions in the modern day USA, the development of weapons was an inevitable part of our survival strategy, and it's probably the only reason we survived long enough to be alive today.

You do know how the US gets most of its resources, right? The lack of trade with embargoed countries is made up with by markets and resources opened up by destabilizing, overthrowing or downright invading other (also preferably socialist, but they'll take what they can) countries.
That's called imperialism.
What they can't get through imperialism, they'll get through neo-colonialism, which is more of the above only through economic rather than military means (often through global banking organizations like the IMF).
