Can we have a formations thread please? I need to get good at total war so medieval and before formations and ways of beating them

I need to get good at empire total war. What tactics exist during musket and cannon era? Just keep shooting till enemy flees?

Use skirmishers often for the range advantage, kneel-fire for regular infantry. Putting a unit in square formation is invincible against cavalry, or you can set up stakes or use lancers. Cavalry are not really a threat to you, but make use of your own cavalry for mobility and rear charges to bog down enemy units.

To add, the winged hussars will break an infantry square in the game. They are OP
