Not really. Trousers were worn by the likes of Iranics. Here in the Philippines, the more organized tribes wore trousers too.
Its all in the material.
But yes, Kilts make me scratch my head too.

Polish people had its national costum, Polish style was very unique compared to the rest of Europe especially after the idea of "Sarmatism" the belief that Poles where direct descendants of the Sarmats (a sort of aryan theory by the Germans)
And we had our clothes, Ukrainians and Russians very often where influenzed by Polish nobility style, the most distinctive robes of Polish dress are the boots, which were crimson if you had the possibilty to pay, boots were a social symbol, and only the most important characters could afford crimson boots like kings, high ministers and some aristocracy, then came the jackets and the hat

This one is illustrated based on the fresco of three women found in Crete. The blue metal belt is something of a predecessor to a corset, worn by both men and women to hold their waists in. It's supposed that they would have been worn since early childhood to prevent the waist from growing at all.
>>1187550
>>1187569
This is an earlier style of Minoan dress, from around c. 2400 - 2100, after which the quoted styles began to come into popularity.

Kilts were originally full body shawl type things
If I remember correctly an English businessman named Thomas Rawlinson partnered with the Chief of Clan MacDonnell to get work for disenfranchised ex-Jacobites, and he employed them doing things like logging and smelting ore. The big kilts were far too heavy and cumbersome for that kind of work, so Rawlinson designed a smaller version, which is where the modern kilt originates.

>Emperor Minh Mang bans skirts
so what's the story behind this anyways? Also was women wearing pants during that time period unique to Vietnam among the countries in East Asia?
>>1190590
what era are they even supposed to represent anyway?
>>1190604
Nope. Chinese peasant women historically wore pants. Skirts are shit for field work. By the Qing dynasty, even Ladies of quality now wore trousers due to Manchu influence.
ALso IIRC Minh Mang banned it on literally aesthetic grounds and hardline Confucian morality. He had a diamond stick up his ass.

Men pierced their penises for ritual bloodletting purposes. Royal men in particular did this in their ascensión ceremony to the throne. Some warriors also did it to show who was manly enough since it very painful.
Women did it in their tongues, but recent evidence shows they also pierced their vagina área too.

Why do people say the Spaniards did so much raping? I'm sure they did like most soldiers up til even now but I doubt it was as bad as people make it out to be. Are there documents about it or something?
>>1197948
>When your camel turns into a vaporwave album
>>1203118
There are documents of complaints by native women who get raped by the Spanish landowners that work on their encomiendas. And at least during the conquest period, rape was common as Bernal de Castillo a Spanish soldier said. He mentioned how in every town they went they took and had their way with women. In other cases you had political marriages by native elites to spaniards to form alliances, in which case it wasn't rape. Although the women still typically had no say on the matter.
>>1203118
>>1203399
There was raping during the conquest, as in every other conquest in the world. There where some more rapes immediatly after, when the conquistadores where given land as feudal lords. It all ended some years later when the coloniual government was centralized and organized with a proper bureaucracy and imperial laws. When the indians got cristianized all the pretext for the raping and enslaving was over.
>>1188995
Pretty anachronistic.
