Obviously one can't just take over the world via military strength like in the old days. But in today's times, could one still aspire to bid for world domination? Is this dream still possible to achieve?
I think building a civil service and administrative structure on that scale is like trying to build a million story skyscraper.
Eventually, things are just going to buckle, because no material works on that scale.
Now, if you just wanted to hurt a bunch of people, fuck bitches, and look cool, there are plenty of opportunities.

Well obviously you could if you had some kind of cartoony mega laser or super virus or something. Assuming nobody has cheat codes god weapons, you can't just steam roll the rest of the world.
