What stopped the Mongols?
>>
Themselves
>>
>I get a little bit Ghenhis Khan
>>
genghis khan died
>>
>>1179428
Same thing that "stopped" the "Greeks" after Alexander. The "empire" was divided, and things just kinda fell into corruption as successors became greedy. Someone else would come along to take areas of land and succeed.
>>
Poland and the HRE, Vietnam, Japan, Turks, they got stopped at quite a few places,

but the Mongols conquered a lot but never took the time to consolidate their gains. Once the territory was occupied, the only thing keeping it labeled as mongol lands is the presence of the army, because very few actual mongols went to settle to call the land theirs. Meaning that once the army left, there really was nothing holding the land to Mongolia, so chunk by chunk, Russians, Turks, Arabs, Koreans and many others just started chipping away at the empire bite by bite, unable to hold its own on just the sheer power of the hordes alone.
>>
>>1179428
A combination of Europeans being bloody minded assholes who were exceptionally skilled at building and defending fortifications, Mamelukes being good at that hwole "war" thing, and the mongols themselves fracturing and thus being unable to bring enough force ot bear on one point to expand any further.
>>
The Mamluks were the first to hand the Mongols a defeat that stopped them in their tracks.
>>
>>1179428
Organized kingdoms.
>>
Ogedei (the second) Khan died without naming a successor.
When the mongols choose the third Khan, there were internal problems. Once he died the Empire became various mongol states.

It's laughable how poles try to save their neck historically speaking
>>
it was just unsustainable. you can't march over the world and expect things to continue in harmony forever. growing an empire like that in such a small time is pointless; the time just is just not there to give it any backbone.
>>
>>1179538
The mongols didn't care about harmony. They didn't care about growing an empire either

They wanted money and they got money
>>
>>1179428
The sea. They suck at it.

Tried to conquer Japan two times, they got rekt not only by them but by the weather
Tried to conquer Indonesians, but got rekt and never tried it again because it's a shamefur dispray
>>
>>1179428
Riddle me this; whenever I ask someone why Rome didn't hold on to mesopotamia after Trajan, people tell it's because the empire was so overextended that Rome could never hold on to it. But whenever I ask people why mongol never held on to Poland or Hungary, people seem to imply that the only thing standing in the way of the Mongols and the total conquest of Poland was the death of the khagan.

Castles, crossbows and heavily armoured knights.

They weren't. Are you retarded?
>>
>>1179544
>They didn't care about growing an empire either
They did though. They intended to conquer the world.

They were just willing to run off with money when conquest wasn't possible.

It's literally a centuries old meme.

>Based on Chinese historical texts the ancestry of the Mongolic peoples can be traced back to the Donghu, a nomadic confederation occupying eastern Mongolia and Manchuria

>The Donghu later divided into the Wuhuan in Yan Mountains and Xianbei in Greater Khingan Range, the latter of which are the origin of the Khitan and Mongols

>Most frequently, it was used to denote people, usually of Caucasoid or partial Caucasoid appearance, living to the north and west of China. (2009:453)

>>1179723
Nope. Steppe nomads have never been concerned with empire building.
>>
>>1179731
Except they were. Per their own statements, as well as them happily managing china as a unified empire, rather than fucking off to come back and loot it again later.

>never
Turks. Parthians. Avars.
>>
>>1179731
Genghis Khan had red hair though. Clearly, he had caucasoid ancestors.

If you think about it, the Mongols never really stopped. The legacy of these wise, scholarly horsemen lives on in all cultures. Genghis Khan (pbuh) is an ancestor of up to half of all the humans living today. Think about modern inventions. Cars? Just metal horses. Guns? Just metal bows. It is truly fair to say we live in a world shaped by the Mongols and maintained by the lasting legacy today.
>>
>>1179744
We have different ideas of empires then. Steppe people rarely, if ever, enforced their cultures onto the conquered.

>>1179746
Yes, I just explained that he did.

yeah, but only in finland

>Poland and the HRE, Vietnam, Japan, Turks, they got stopped at quite a few places,

Just because those places happened to be at the geographical extent of their conquest doesn't mean they were the cause of it stopping.
>>

>Tried to conquer Japan two times, they got rekt not only by them but by the weather

They only got rekt by the weather.

There's plenty of non-european peoples with caucasoid and even clearly white features. Specially in the remote past. Tocharians looked like stereotypical celts yet weren't european at all.
