If I may offer some insight of my own, I would like to offer some issues I hold with its name.
It is called the 'Holy Roman Empire'. But is it holy? No - the Pope does not live in it. Is it Roman? No - Rome is not a part of it. And is it an empire? Ha! It's not centralised enough to be called an 'empire' - every state within it controls their own affairs.
If I may suggest a name, I would call it the European Union.
