The only problem with scarcity is if you have a lot of people there, like India or Africa. Russia is vast but not scarce.

Unless you want to limit your population to some arbitrary number to "live in harmony with nature" with extreme extermination programs and social engineering (which will ultimately fail/never happen) then it will. Not. Happen.

yeah, basically. marxism accepts that socialism comes after capitalism because the contradictions of capitalism will cause socialism to arise out of it when things break down. no matter how much revolutionaries want to try to jump past it, you have to undergo some sort of capitalism first. the NEP did what was necessary to restart the economy after the revolution and civil war. the problem is that they went into command economy mode after that instead of socialist, worker controlled economy mode

It nationalized only the most necessary parts of industry and allowed private initiative which was crucial for accumulation of capital and stabilizing the war-thorn country's economy. Too bad Lenin died though.
