I am constantly seeing David McCullough books pop up when broswing for history reading. Is this guy some top historian with tons of best selling books?

O've read it twice actually. The second time a few years after the first. Its a long read at 900 something pages but it doesn't really feel like it. Alot of close detail in packed into the book but yet it is still reads smoothly and with a lot of charm. It is a fairly well balanced book but it probably favors Truman in the end.

If you dont know much about post 1945 American history you will learn it here.

I like McCullough's stuff but this is a terribly designed cover. David's name pops out while Truman's bleeds into the scenery.
