I'd say Jackson is great for the same reason Washington is great. It's more what he stood for than what he did: Washington stepping down after two terms easily puts him as one of the greatest. such an under appreciated aspect of the man. Jackson, on the other hand, was truly the first commoner president, having never received an education and coming from quite literally nothing. Plus, the democratic party is still one of the major parties.

Panama was part of Columbia at that time. When Roosevelt wanted the Canal to be built there instead of Nicaragua, the Panamanians revolted and US aid thanks to TR. His meddling of Latin American affairs was the beginning of later US interventions and regime toppling in that region.
To be fair, Roosevelt was engaged in a pseudo-Cold War with Imperial Germany at the time. The Germans really wanted to expand their influence into Latin America since it was the only place left to control and colonize. There was quite a bit of German settlers so the Kaiser and his cronies wanted to expand spheres of influence. Naturally, the US saw this as an affront to the Monroe Doctrine.
While not amongst the greatest, I think Chester A. Arthur and Grover Cleveland are the most underrated Presidents. Both were good administrators who strove to keep graft and corruption out of office.
