But all it really amounts to is the amount of political yarn one can spin to best utilize a tragedy to suit their agendas, as with everything else.

Most Christian martyrs were the equivalent of SJW screaming at the cops until they got arrested. Both groups also thought they were displaying strengths.
Attempts were made to appease early Christians but these people had some sort of death fetish. There were reports of them intentionally vandalizing pagan temples hoping to get crucified. Ignatiu's letters tell us he was so happy to be arrested that he couldn't describe it. Just like modern SJW take every opportunity to claim to be a victim, early Christians were impossible to accomodate into society. Everything was a trigger for them.

That is one of the least deserving martyrs ever. That's St. Peter The Martyr, not to be confused with St. Peter the guy that hung out with Jeusus.
Anyway, Peter was big into inquistion and shit. He tortured a lot of people and stole their land in the name of the church. Then one day few people took revenge and first stabbed him a few times and then while he was writing something on ground with his blood ( can't remember what) guy killed him with an axe to the head.
And that somehow makes him martyr.
