The forbidden aspect isn't even a major appeal for me with incest. Hard to explain but the main reason I'm drawn to it is for "symbolic" reasons. Like a brother and sister are opposites of each-other, usually born from the same womb. They rely and depend on each-other and even sometimes have sex with each-other. Your typical "oh no i love you but you're my sibling we cannot do this!" feels trite to me. For some reason I feel the concept of incest would work well in a fantasy/sci fi setting will loose association to real life human taboos. It's hard to still be aroused by the wrongness of it especially when incest is pretty mainstream now, so much so you can just browse pornhub or xvideos for mainstream incest/step-incest themed porn.
