I have a serious question here for you anons.

Why is it that when webm's were introduced, everyone started to stop making Gif's and insisted they were worse in every way.

Webm's require more processing power than gifs, and if you've ever tried viewing more than 20 at a time you will realise this. They may have longer

Gif's are God-tier because once you have even a small collection you can view them all collectively with ease.

Pic related, It's how I view gif's. With webm's as mentioned it laggs out when more than 10-20 are there.

I dont understand why people wouldnt want more than 3 open at once? I mean with Gif's specifically they are usually no longer than 3-8 seconds. If I'm fapping I can usually only watch a single gif 2 or 3 times max before it loses its interest.

Personally, I have to see a lot of gif or webm's very quickly or simultaneously otherwise It's not worth it. I mean who would fap to just 1 thing on loop untill they are done?

Essentially all my original post idea is, is that if they are all on one page you can move your eyes from one to the other at will without using your hands to swap the gif/webm each time, surely im not the only one who thinks this is good

I'm not denying this at all. The File size, quality and length is great. They are a superior file type.

Its just that decoding aspect, decoding requires a lot more power and makes it less smooth in fap sessions personally,

Gifs annoy me because they're usually in small res, they're grainy, and short. I literally lose my boner looking at a gif.

I like webms especially when they're long because it gives me time to cum. They're also more fluid.

I used to like gifs but when webm became a thing it took over. Why would you choose a lower framerate and quality? I'm fapping I don't care about the filesize or processing speed of playing them.
As far as playing loads at once, I just play them zll in vlc, and have one and pressing next and one hand jerking. Webm allows long enough videos for it to be worthwhile to sometimes jerk with two hands. My eyes can only look at one video at a time (without looking like a fucktard) so any extra on the screen are essentially unnecessary. Also webm are good enough quality to put fullscreen without realising that you're wanking to flashing dots.

Having said that, to each his own, do what you will with your penis-mind and I hope you have fun doing it.

>webm related. This could never be encapsulated with a gif

gifs have some advantages

namely they can convey something in a way that a webm is less suitable for, and which takes up more space, and more importantly, more time and processing power. all smart phones can view gifs though not all can view webms. moreover webm files are more direct: you basically always know that you're going to be getting a video. with gifs this is not the case. sometimes they are used for static images, and pictures. for an animation that doesn't ultimately have much motion, gifs tend to be better, like the one im posting

you may say, well for those purposes i suppose gifs may have some advantages, some of the time, but what about entertainment purposes like this site? surely webms will be better

some situations can be better conveyed as a gif; the possibilities it contains are oftentimes unfeasible and frankly inapplicable if you would try to do the same thing but as a webm file. whereas with webm, the possibilities of what can be shown can be different, but not necessarily more, with the ability to include sound, the ability for the file to offer you a more readily available way to pause, and also more feasible conversion to other video filetypes, though this still brings it within the reign of types with sound, generally speaking.

lastly, there are some current benefits to gifs outside all of what ive mentioned. this benefit is similar to the one that .swf (flash) files have, in that much of the content that was previously being made en masse using that type will be more difficult to convert and spread further among the web. there are a few tools out there that you can use to convert flash files to normal files such as those that can be uploaded to youtube, such as newgrounds' swivel tool, but most including swivel are either faulty, or you have to pay for it. as time goes on, much of these files will be lost to time, thus becoming more valuable to "collectors" such as *chan users like us who enjoy media archival

>>8550281
webms can and often are a lot longer than that amount of time. if you tend to save them from a particular site (imageboards), it's just that these places tend to have a file size cap, often under 10 mb or so
>>

>if you've ever tried viewing more than 20 at a time you will realise this.

What's the matter, your cock won't get hard if you're only watching 15 pornos at once?

Seriously, if your knock on WEBMs is that your computer isn't powerful enough to display 20 of them at the same time, I think you might want to spend a little bit of time reflecting on your life.

I use an AutoHotkey script that basically takes all the Gifs/jpg (and so on) in one particular folder, sorts them all into a HTML page which it creates, and then I open that html page.

The link to the code I made is here

>>8550596
Doesnt matter how good your computer is, it will be very hard if not near imposible to open more than 50-100 at once, which I know isnt exaclty in the bounds of normal activity. I'm not saying that makes webm's worse though just different.

>>8550685
But that isn't what im doing, I've seen posts like I made in my original post before, which multiple ways to view gifs and/or webm's and I assumed a lot of people who come on here have ways to view many at once

Very simple. Just download autohotkey (which is a language not a standalone program) its like 5mb max.

Then, you save the code I sent as whatever.ahk , with the .ahk being important. (start in notepad or something to save it)

Then you can simply run it. You can also compress it into an exe but I didnt do that as I think people would think its bait if I uploaded a random exe thats 2mb big and I posted it

it's /gif/ because the board was created before webm. If it was created after, you bet your ass it would have been /webm/.
Also, if you think you should post gifs just because this is the /gif/ board, then why was the permission to post webms (with sound!) added at all?
If you guys like gifs more, then that's totally fine. And it's totally fine to share them and create threads dedicated to them. But trying to say they're superior is just silly. Let's weigh the pros and cons

Gifs:
>very low filesize for the information they hold. >They're a little snapshot of a scene and usually last short enough a time for them to have a certain character that a webm won't have. Like a single thrust or boob flash or part of an oface or whatever
>Easily viewed on a range of devices. There are a good few programs (I like Honeyview) which will group these with your photos for slideshows
>Little processing power required to play them
>Nostalgic
>Framerate is very low and quality often extremely grainy.
>If you dare fullscreen you see etch-a-sketch type boobs
>can't be longer than 10 seconds or so without the quality being unwatchable

But webms:
>Can be any length up to ~2min without quality being bad
>larger in size, but yet the filesizes are still low for what information they have. your porn collection will be very large. Mine's like 30Gb
>sound
>pausable/seekable
>very playable on machines but mobile is not as common
>60fps porn possible
>>
>>8553027

>>
>>8553103

OP, setting up a custom HTML page for gifs is probably about as accessible as getting a free video editor for picture in picture compiling of full HD things like this that would only take the processing power of 1 video, be in 32 bit color, and at 60 fps if you had the material for it. Not only could you share the result with us, you could have hour long endless clip shows that repeat as much or as little as you wanted, and could even make it have a theme or progression, like going from teasing to cumshots etc or whatever youre into.
>>
I can sorta agree with OP as a person who frequently uses a mobile device to fap gif load smoother while webm's have to load through my video player and takes time to load so i have 2-3 secs of black load screen, and when the videos are like what 10 secs long i dont wanna spend a fourth of my jerking time looking at a black screen i just wanna get to the next gif which has probably loaded in the time while i was watching the previous gif
