What media player do you use to view webms? I just use Icaros for windows thumbnails and VLC to play most of the time. Sometimes I use bomi if I want to play a folder.
Also how do you create webms, if you do? I always convert using a quick constant bitrate that I calculate myself, using the below guide:
>4chan's webm filesize limit is 4 mebibytes (4096 KB), which is equal to 33554.4 kilobits.
33554.4 kilobits divided by the number of seconds in your video clip = the overall constant bitrate that an average video that long would need (in kilobits per second) to be exactly 4,096 KB.
>Say you only need your audio bitrate to be 45 kbps because it's porn and who gives a shit about the sound quality as long as it's not distorted. You can do 36kbps at 40,000Hz sampling rate and it sounds fine. Maybe even make it mono and 32kbps if the source already was anyway. You can find out anything about the source with a free program called MediaInfo.
>That would mean your ideal video bitrate would just be equal to your overall calculated constant bitrate minus 45 (or 36 if you used that). This final calculated number could be up to 10% above or below the real (constant) video bitrate needed to make it 4MB, depending on how much light and movement there is and spread against what size a canvas. For porn, the real necessary bitrate is usually higher than the calculated one. Unless it has blowing leaves like this one.
oops wrong webm
the ferns are always prioritized over the women
this is my thread
you can make webcam webms last like 5 minutes. Anything where the camera hardly moves
Just got into webms... I know my way around ffmpeg so I use that.
I have a fuckton (around 4TB/99% HD) of vids on my drives so basically, I cut a sequence from it using a ffmpeg -ss and -to, then I usually downscale it 720p and crop it using a 2,35:1 ratio (I just think it looks better that way) and as for the size, I tend to divide by 8 to 12 the bitrate of the original video for the webm so it fits the 4MB limit...
>>8280688
And also, low audio bitrate like 96k or even 64k...
You can make a streamable.com from tubepornsites. Right click copy video url, then convert it on https://convertio.co/

you mean when I DONT watch them in my browser?
well first
>curl -s $URL | grep -oi "i.4cdn.org\/[a-z]*\/[0-9]*.webm" | sed 's/^/-nv -nc -P \/path\/goes\/here\/ /' |xargs wget
ant then
>totem /path/goes/here/*.webm
As for creating, similar to >>8280688.
>>8280521
>/gif/'s webm filesize limit is 4 mebibytes (4096 KB)
FTFY*
Everywhere else on 4chan it's 3MB.
>>8282450
Says 4MB, not MiB, so fuck off with your memes.
>>8282545
Are you retarded? Seriously, or do you just lack reading comprehension?
Is there any way to predict what's the highest VBR "-q" quality number you can use and still fit within 4 MiB? Like maybe if you know the filesize of the raw video clip/selection you are converting from?
>>8280700
That's not low. Vorbis audio sounds far better than LAME or AAC at the same bitrate. I encode everything with 45 kbps audio and I cant even tell for sure if there's a difference most of the time (and I have a headphone amp)
>>8282545
It really is MiB though. Otherwise the max filesize accepted would be 4,000 KB, not 4096 KB. Windows measures things in KiB and MiB but refers to them as KB and MB. And so does 4chan. 4 MiB is actually 4194.3 kilobytes

Good to know, will give it a try!
XnView with the proper plugin lets me use my mouse scroll.
Okay so newb to webm... How do I view on phone iOS and android?
>>8280521
that webm looks like shit
>>8282258
Not sure if you're serious, but it starts with Now I'm Here I believe, then Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, and the Play the Game at the end.
Any advice how I can dl webms with my Android 5.1 phone? With my last phone I could dl the same way as pics but with the new one nothing happens when I hold the screen and there is also no possibility in the ootions menu.
I use mpv and youtube-dl for viewing and streaming and ffmpeg for conversation.

...my fucking browser?
>>8285809
Mimi does it, thanks.
>>8285266
That's the reason I posted it. It will always look shitty as a webm because the encoder has to spend so much of the bitrate kbps into showing the details and sharp lines of all the ferns, bushes and trees blowing around outside the window.
I wish I could make the encoder intelligently avoid wasting its bitrate on those shitty ferns, and spend it on the women instead

I used to just use my browser but finally just started using VLC media player, much better way to do it.
>how do you create webms
Well, I'm a complete mongoloid retard when it comes to technical stuff like that (even though the mongoloid races are actually good with tech).
But I've learned JUST enough to squeeze out acceptable turds of original content, post-related.
I'd like to learn Ffmpeg better, I basically just use this very basic formula:
ffmpeg -i file_in.wmv -ss 00:10:05.000 -to 00:10:21.000 -c:v libvpx -crf 4 -b:v 2M -an file_out.webm
I know just enough that I can influence the quality enough to do some very basic things, but I'd like to actually understand what the hell I'm doing and get a better at it so I can contribute better content.
Any sources for good instruction material? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some somewhere here before, but can't remember where.
>>8292374
you are using webm's (actually VP8's) "maximum bitrate" version of VBR. You can change the quality by changing 2M (meaning 2000 kbps max bitrate) to something else, like 2566K or something (which, being larger than 2M, would result in a bigger file)
here's an old guide for silent webms:
https://gist.github.com/ndarville/10010916
>-crf values can go from 4 to 63. Lower values mean better quality.
>-b:v is the maximum allowed bitrate. Higher means better quality.
>-an disables audio. 4chan will reject your files if they contain audio streams.
>>8292760
>>-crf values can go from 4 to 63. Lower values mean better quality.
Been using ffmpeg for a year now and I never used the -crf... I've always used the -b:v thinking that's the only setting that influences quality...
Should probably give it a try, thanks anons!
>>8291855
song is simply called "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy"
Does anyone know of a good converter from webm to some common format? Doesn't really matter which.

I'm sure that I've read before that fiddling with both of these can counteract each other, especially if done in extremes, but I can't remember where I read it so I'd take my word for baogna.

I have two (what I'm sure are) stupid questions.
1. How do I convert .gif to .webm without wrecking the quality?
2. How do I clip webms down, without wrecking the quality?
>>8307770
gif is already shitty quality how can you rekt it more?
>>8307770
1.) check out this sticky: >>>/wsg/957539 for a guide
2.) Use a program called AVIDEMUX to set up an 'A' starting point and a 'B' end point from which to extract from your webm (try to make sure 'A' is set to an I-FRAME and not a P-FRAME, or the vid may come out corrupt). Make sure to specify you want it to use the webm muxer when you do it

One last question - how do you clip multiple sections into one single bit?
That is to say, from 6 sec. to 11 sec., and then from 17 sec. to 29 sec., and then from blah to blah?
I've tried just doing -ss ___ -to ___ -ss ___ -to, but that didn't work.
>>8312793
use Webm for Retards, it has a little gui for doing exactly that
I made this one with it, cutting out most of the parts where the camera was not looking at her face

Best tool to create webm in my opinon
https://gitgud.io/nixx/WebMConverter
i use something called easiestsoft video converter 3.3.1
for some reason when I make constant bitrate videos in normal ffmpeg, it keeps re-resolving all the big obvious compression blocks / getting all pixelated every x-frames for no apparent reason. When I use easiestsoft (which just encodes with an older version of libvpx) it keeps building layers of detail as long as the frame doesnt change, and you only see the blocks when there is a lot of motion onscreen. This lets you get by with a very low video bitrate so long as the video doesnt change too much (like if the camera is on a tripod)
