why are they snak-barring like chechens?
>>

Those are some local muslims or likely illegal migrants or something. The govt forces don't try to figure out their origin, just suppose those are mercenaries from Caucasus or something. They kill everyone they don't like because they won't be persecuted for any war crimes.
>>
>>8211549
so then why is "shooting zone" spelled out in russian on the wall and why are they speaking russian, and why are they using a russian PKM to kill these people
>>
>>8211558
I WONDER
>>
>>8211558
Probably to make a bait. Every Ukrainian can speak Russian. Their weapons are all Soviet-made. In a real world situation, there is no necessity to demark an execution area with such large letters.

Notice a white-red tape. Those weren't widespread in Russia or Chechnya for that matter back in the time of Chechen wars. It's a very recent video.
>>
>>8211586
It doesn't necessarily have to have happened during the wars. Russians still hate Chechens and its not like the Russian public would give a damn
>>
>>8211584
That's the most likely assumption. I can't think of any recent conflict where Russians could possibly execute muslims.
>>
>>8211593
The Russian public would give a very loud damn. Anything counter-terrorist conducted in Chechnya or Dagestan nowadays is kept low-profile and is performed by Chechen and Dagestani nationals in service of Russian Internal Affairs.
>>
>>8211594
It's just as likely then, that Russian separatists, or even soldiers, could have done this as well, I mean its not that much of a leap seeing as how Russians are about as tolerant of different people as someone from Arizona

Chechnya is a part of Russia. A state can't invade a part of itself. The second campaign restored peace by installing a leader well respected among locals who had enough religious authority to extinguish the radical trends.

Georgia is a Catholic country. Won't stir any shit in Caucasus.

Ukraine won't stir any shit anywhere. Crimea doesn't have civil war going on thanks to Russia.

So just because they're catholics they're just going to roll over and let themselves get fucked over
>Crimea doesn't have civil war going on thanks to Russia
So just the REST of Ukraine, 'grats Russia, what a stabilizing force you are
>>
>>8209121
thats is wwii lol
>>
>>8211710
> If a state can't invade part of itself then why did they raze Grozney?
Can't say much good about the first campaign. It was mostly mistakes. The second campaign fixed most of those though. The wound inflicted on Chechnya is being slowly healed.

> So just because they're catholics they're just going to roll over and let themselves get fucked over
That's what they did. Not because catholics, but because they were in the wrong. Shouldn't had genocided the South Osetians.

> So just the REST of Ukraine, 'grats Russia, what a stabilizing force you are
The REST of Ukraine will be A-OK from the moment the govt ends murdering their eastern citizens, lets them conduct the elections and otherwise follow the Minsk Protocol.
>>
>>8211730
>their eastern citizens
You mean the ones that invited foreign invaders into their country and seceded from it to make their own republic? They are no longer citizens of Ukraine. Hell, they're not even ethnic Ukrainians, they're just Russians that got settled there after Ukraine got absorbed into the Eastern Bloc. If anything, they should have been kicked back into Russia so that actual Ukrainians could settle there after the soviet union broke up
>>
>>8211730
And to the whole Georgia thing I have this to quote, as it will do a much better job than me:
>"The conflict centered on South Ossetia and Abkhazia, two "breakaway provinces" in Georgia. They are officially part of Georgia, but have separate, unrecognized governments. Abkhazia and South Ossetia are supported by Russia. Russia has peacekeeping operations in both South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
>Supported by Russia
>"peacekeeping operations"
sound familiar yet?
>>
>>8211773
What a bunch of nonsense. The ancestors of modern Russians lived on the territory of Ukraine back in the times of Kievan Rus, together with the ancestors of modern Ukrainians (they descend from the same tribes). The word "Ukraine" wasn't even on the political map until 1917. And of course, Malorossiya was a part of the Russian Empire long before there was any Eastern Bloc.

Second. If the mob in Kiev has the right to forcibly change the legitimate govt, then any other citizen of Ukraine has the same right to overthrow any govt they don't like, equally forcibly.
>>
>>8211730
>Shouldn't had genocided the South Osetians
"The Human Rights Watch concluded that the "South Ossetian forces sought to ethnically cleanse" the Georgian-populated areas."

What was that now?
>>
>>8211782
Sure. There's peace in South Ossetia, is there not?
>>
>>8211788
Except they gave up on doing what the mob in Kiev was doing when they said "fuck it lets make our own country and steal land from our old country" And to be completely honest I haven't EXTENSIVELY studied European history and I doubt you have either so to say who's ancestors are who is beyond what either of us can claim

Its exactly whats happening in Ukraine, an illegal invasion with very loose justification, and in the end no one in the world will do a damn thing about it because no one in the world has the balls to do anything, even though Russia's military power is laughable at best
>>
>>8211813

How can you steal what's already yours? The best you can do is to fight against the govt you don't want.
>>
>>8211814
>Citing the website of an illegitimate governement
>>
>>8211830
its not theirs until the Donetsk People's Republic is recognized as legitimate, which is hasn't been except by Russia and all the sorry bastards in the world, maybe 7 in total, who still rely on Russian aid to keep their regimes afloat
>>
>>8211838
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legitimacy_%28political%29

Democracy: In a democracy, government legitimacy derives from the popular perception that the elected government abides by democratic principles in governing, and thus is legally accountable to its people.

The moment they elect a govt, it's legitimate. The purpose of Kiev undermining the Minsk Protocol is to not let the DNR and LNR to conduct elections.
>>
>>8211833
Facts are facts, whether they come from a legitimate govt, an illegitimate govt, or a dog.

> kicked back into Russia

>>
>>8211824
> Russia's military power is laughable at best
> no one in the world has the balls to do anything
Isn't there a contradiction here somewhere?
>>
>>8211813
> I doubt you have either so to say who's ancestors are

That's why there is historical science. And if it says that Ukraine, Belarus and Russia derive from Kievan Rus, then it's most likely so.
>>
>>8211690
Who is 'us'? Are you Russian?
>>
>>8211920
When a person says "us" on the Internet and does not specify a country, they most certainly mean the US. That unique, I'd say exceptional, mix of self-importance and ignorance.
>>
>>8209695
Did they find the WMDs?
>>
>>8211934
Sure. But what does that 'us' have to do with a bombing run in Syria?
>>
>>8211920
>>8211934
Doesn't make that statement false though. Whoever you are, somewhere, someone is feeling burning hatred towards your country. Most likely, earned.
>>
>>8211959
Nothing, that's the 'ignorance' part. And also, the 'self-importance' part, because, from an American's point of view, anything meaningful, anywhere in the world is done by Americans.

That's some weird revisionism you got there. Ukrainians are a late nation to form, but so are modern Russians as differentiated from Ukrainians and Belorussians. They were all the same folk until they had been sedentary in each region long enough that their languages had diverged.

However, it is important to note that this doesn't make the inhabitants of modern Russia somehow the inheritors of Russian history. All these eastern slavs are, together. Subsequently they have the right to self determination.

This hardly contradicts what I've said. I was arguing mainly against the claim that ethnic Russians are somehow an alien element in the modern Ukraine who were forcibly injected there during Communism.

When in 1917 you're delimiting a border between Russia and a newborn Ukrainian Republic, are you supposed to identify "pure Ukrainian" or "pure Russian" regions? Such a border always passes through a fairly wide gray zone (the size of the gray zone is arguably comparable to the size of Ukraine) and leaves a lot of Russians and Ukrainians on both sides. Are you expecting them to migrate across the border just because the govt decided so? They could've lived in their village for generations. And now it's not "their land".

Even if you're unsure about ancient history, consider the XX century. The industrialization of Ukraine was funded by the entire Soviet population (the majority of which is Russians).

> During the 1946–1950 five-year plan, nearly 20% of the Soviet budget was invested in Soviet Ukraine
> Soviet Ukraine soon became a European leader in industrial production

How do yo like that? I don't have the statistics on ethnic composition of builders and workers of Soviet Ukrainian factories, but I somehow think that Russians had a considerable part of it.

How are Russians enemies? Fucking how?

Because you're infidel.

In muslim philosophy there exist two spheres, the dar al islam (abode of islam) and the dar al harb (the abode of war). Essentially it is the destiny of islam to conquer the dal ar harb and be the one religion. There's a sort of a manifest destiny at play in muslim philosophy. In any case, westerners are godless in most cases and therefor worthy of hate. So really, those people would hate us no matter what.
>>
>>8215423
There is an peaceful modification of islam, and it should be propagating.
>>
>>8215440
But that's because you don't understand the history of Islam in itself.

Isis aren't exactly extremists, they're purists. Peaceful Islam is considered by many many Islamic scholars as well, not true Islam. When you understand the concept of abrogation, and you read the Quran you begin to understand why groups like ISIS have so much momentum. So long as the Quran exists, there will always be Jihad fighters.

> Holodomor
The hunger in Ukraine and southern Russia around 1930 was caused by a controversial economical policy of procuring grain from population. Being under sanctions, the USSR couldn't export anything but grain, so that was one of very few options to fund the industrialization which made possible the booming of Soviet production throughout the XX century. You can argue about the soundness of this decision, especially considering the almost non-existent alternatives, but it wasn't something targeted specifically against Ukrainians.

> Ethnic cleanin 1937
Stalin's repressions affected the entire Soviet Union. Wasn't something targeted specifically against Ukraine. Absolutely not "ethnic" cleaning. The regime changed a few times since then, Stalin is officially condemned.

> Hunger 1947
Post-WW2. Blame Hitler for that.

> Chernobil 1986
Industrial disaster. Russia was contaminated as well as Belarus. Among those dealing with consequences were many Russians.
Things happen. Fukushima doesn't accuse Tokyo of genocide.

> Crimea occupation
Russia saved Crimea from civil war.

> War in Donbass
Ukr. govt shouldn't have started the civil war. If Kiev has the right to overthrow the legitimate govt, so does Donetsk.

Look, believe what you want, I've taken plenty of classes on islamic philosophy and Jihad and I have a pretty good understanding of how things are legitimized.

I'll just recommend you should stop being an apologist, because at the end of the day no one in Islam is going to defend you. I recommend you read about Islam if you want to defend it, you'll find it increasingly hard to do. You'll end up realizing somethings are completely alien, and you'll learn to respect Islam for what it is, from a distance. Just pray we don't get the influx of immigrants as Europe has.

A strong no nonsense foreign policy is probably the place to start, but really we need to begin dispelling the notion that Islam is a 'religion of peace', it's a religion of war, founded on war, that has stayed in war for nearly all of its short fourteen hundred year existence. Once we've done that, then we can begin addressing what we should do.

Europe is the one that's really in trouble, and they're beginning to realize it.
>>
>>8215472
I admire your patience but you're probably not going to get through to that guy. The Soviet Union is still such a red flag to so many people. Historical accuracy doesn't really factor into their opinions.

As we see, in this picture, Russia is affected by the famine as well. It was not an anti-Ukraine thing. It was caused by a morally unsound but economically effective decision which made possible the later industrialization, which included the introduction of high-performance agricultural machinery which prevented any possible further hungers (with the exception of those caused by the WW2).

If not for the annexation, Crimea would've been experiencing the same shit that's going on in Donbass, but even worse because there are more ethnic Russians in Crimea. We've seen in Odessa how tolerant Ukies are. Very European. Thank God and Putin that Crimea is at peace.

A bunch of writers shot is not "ethnic cleansing". Repressions against dissidents were going on in the whole USSR. Again, a morally challenged policy of the regime, not an anti-Ukraine thing.

They have quite a bit of money from oil trade and pillaging the captured territories. They didn't get all those Toyotas for free. Now that their oil factories are being methodically destroyed and the Syrian-Turkey border may be closed, the funding would decrease significantly.
>>
>>8216603
I had forgotten the Arabian peninsula is drowning in oil. It makes sense that their might-is-right mentality would win them spoils of war in the form of machinery and weaponry, but as for actual economic generation, I'd never really given it any thought.

If the West wasn't so opposed to restoring the Assad's regime over the entirety of Syria, that would be a huge help. Assad has a loyal army and police and a functioning government. Considerable support in the population. His army, being centralized and monolithic, as opposed to the "opposition", is the only power that can be effective on the ground against ISIS. Dictator or not, now's not the time to replace him with a bunch of militant factions who can't come to terms with each other on anything and turn Syria into a new Libya.

You know what they've done right? A lot of the shit Stalin has done?
>inb4 well we condemned what he did way too late to matter so its all good rite?
>>
>>8216809
I don't mind you condemning any regime.

What I mind, and mind a lot, and what my argument started with:

1) Ethnic Russians have no place in the territory of Ukraine.
2) Ethnic Russians are somehow a bad influence and a destructive element to Ukraine and don't let it develop or become "European".

I understand the rationale behind "Staling was an asshole". Though, Stalin is such a large and complex phenomenon, he's almost a force of nature.

But the phrase "Russians must be kicked from Ukraine" can't possibly have any rational backing. Which I try to prove with logic and facts.

Take this map, for example. It's from 1925. Russians suffered from the famine in equal degree with Ukrainians.

Any other point condemning Russian nationals can be countered with equally convincing data.

Even if one admits the crimes of the Soviet regime and, hypothetically, demands a "compensation" for them, then you should agree that the USSR compensated for those crimes with 20% GDP over many years. USSR rebuilt Ukraine, industrialized it and made it prosper using the money and labor of the entire country, the majority of which is Russians.
>>
>>8216865
if only I could read Russian..... joking aside though, I know full well its not feasible to demand that ethnic Russians be thrown out of Ukraine or something silly like that, but from my understanding, a good portion of the inhabitants of the Donetsk Oblast are and identify as ethnic Russians, so it comes as no real surprise that as soon as the going gets tough for them they just rise up and try and flip flop back to Russian control, taking with the one of the most industrialized areas of Ukraine if I'm not mistaken
>>
>>8216885
The industrial infrastructures of Donetsk and Luhansk were historically designed to function in the context of Ukrainian Soviet Republic. It's not very feasible from an economical perspective to rip them off Ukraine and stick onto Russia.

What they really want is more autonomy. The most profitable regions, they were sucked dry of money by Kiev for the last 20 yrs. They fed the rest of the country. All that while suffering the russophobic rhetoric which was steadily gathering momentum not without help from the West.

They may vote and legitimize their "republics" but they inevitably would join back into Ukraine as soon as economically literate people enter their govts. If the Ukr. govt offered them such authonomy, as federal subjects for instance, they would've undoubtedly put down arms and started talking. But the Ukr. govt was (still is?) making a point of not recognizing them as a negotiating side. Which is a shame.

If Russia _really_ wanted them to join, they would have them by now.

>>
>>8216919
if it is as you say, this must be incredibly awkward for both republics if its true that they don't want to be absorbed into Russia, and the ukies won't talk, though I can't say I blame the ukies entirely for not talking seeing as how it looks as if the republics invited Russian soldiers right on in to what Kiev still sees as its territory

The republics are political experiments. Look at it as a gamble. In the times of chaos, there are always figures who emerge from nowhere, gain power and try to do something with it. Like crystals forming. The people with their worries and desires are an oversaturated solution. The emerging leaders are the points of crystallization. There are many agendas at work, both visible and hidden. I don't _really_ know what's in the heads of those people or Putin or anyone else. I just try to accumulate information and rationalize.
