Your teacher kind of sucks though, that's poorly animated. Character seems weightless and the walk itself lacks personality.
In order for the character to have weight, a low/recoil position should be keyframed

Google "the animator's survival kit pdf". That's basically a big book on how to animate walks properly. It's aimed at traditional 2d animators but the principles are the same.

literally the opposite is true. The average post on /gd/ is so utterly disgusting that anything pretty okay will get you rave praise (see the feedback thread). Sorry we trashed your precious work
