I've been trying to do pic related with my country's flag but I can't get it working. I do have the unedited image and I was wondering how can I achieve the same effect in photoshop?

Transparent layer over the original picture and smudge the flag over the fingers.

Thank you, but that's how to make the flag look more natural on the skin with the position on the fingers, I was wondering how can I make the flag blend with the skin, make it look like someone painted it.

I mean this one doesn't look like it's painted either

Well, yeah, but it's still blends way better than just adding multiply and transparency on the layer.

Convert the background image to greyscale, up the contrast a bit. Dont make the Flag quite as transparent.

I think we are getting somewhere. Is it good if I used blue filter in the Adjustments>Black and White panel? Also, I'm using the usa flag as an example so I don't get called a faggot for living in a shit country.

Background contrast up, flag saturation up.

Also, not to be a dick to your country but i think this would look sort of shitty with a tricolour or anything not so complex.

How did you know? Also, I need to get rid of that grey, the original pic looks more vibrant and it seems that the fingers shadow are more darker. Used a little bit of burn tool and slighty adjusted the levels.

Tricoloured flags are very common. That pic is almost it, the rest is playing with brightness and contrast and making the flag run over the body naturally, so it doesn't just look like a filter.

None of this faggots taught you how to displace the flag. This should help, sorry for the shitty framerate.

I love you

Holy shit thank you.

OP here, thabk you so much, didn't know that there are two different version of that background omage on fucking shutterstock.

Saved, very helpful.

Thanks.

That's a great tutorial + super concise.

Another tip would be after making the displacement mapping the flag layer, group them and duplicate [for posterity], flatten the layer [or apply image] and then manually warp the flag further around the fingers to make it really look like it's painted on with the liquefy tool.

Then basically do the rest of the steps in this vid

Tought of that too but I was using a 'screen to gif' and it already had too many frames so I decided to keep it short.
