Are there no professionals on this board?
Most (if not all) the work I've seen here looks like stuff made from first year students or people who have no idea how to design.

Anyone care to rebuff my statement by showing their work?

I've been in the business 8 years now, I make a pittance of 44k on salary and 2-15k from freelance (a year), I am definitively a professional in the definitive sense of the word- that won't stop you or any other anon from tearing my work apart, so no I won't post anything, thanks.

Oh I also really like how the babies get smaller before they are born, totally professional.
>>
>>257238
It's called a vanishing point, you uneducated asshole. Things appear smaller when they're further away from you, like a fetus slowly spiraling toward being born.
>>
>>257244
>vanishing point

But the spiral doesn't get thinner towards the centre to imply that it's getting further away, it stays the same thickness along the length giving it a flat appearance, why would the babies be magically flying away creating depth that wasn't there with the rest of the design which is all flat and on one plane.

Also your reaction is the most child like thing I've seen in a long time, grow up.

i doubt any "professional" would like to be traced back to 4chan or get his/her best wip/work/ideas stolen. (btw.i'm at my first year of college but I've been doing gd/3d/motiongfx/video editing for the last 4 years).
although i don't think it matter that much you rarely see any real 'pro' on other boards (i usually go on /3/, /p/, /mu/ and /ic/).

>Talks of professional design
>Posts detracting work that lacks design
>>257244
>Talks of vanishing points
>Doesn't talk of exploding point

Wow OP. You sure are professional.

>>257237
Also this, I'm lucky. I only freelance gd, and work as an engineer full time.
>>
I'm a professional - graduated in 2011 and been working in an Advertising Agency ever since.
I mostly lurk but I also make helpful webms in threads that need help.
>>
More like "why would I want to post my work just so you can shit all over it"
>muh opinions
I'm doing fine, I'm making money, you want to find out, keep getting hit in this fucking niche world of dodgeball
>>
>>257232

i'm not professional, but i'm better than you, deal with it

also 10 /10 bait, made me reply
>>

I'm a professional in the sense I get paid to make flyers and posters, and the one off webpage theme. I have done it for 4 years, 3 years in the professional business 8-5 scene, and 1 years as self contractor for non-profits. (small non-profits are usually desperate for marketing advice as well, which gives you far more control)

I probably spend 99% of my time on /b/ for the fap worthy material.

Most graphics designers get paid shit and don't have time to sit around here getting shit talked by 22 year old illustrators who think they are all that and a bag of pancakes.

Yes, I bet you can draw things real pretty, much better then I.
No, the client will not pay you the days it took to do that, when they have a budget and require a 1 day turnaround to the printers, and what happens when the client does a flip on you and says they want it to be the life cycle of an insect through all it's larval stages and for it to be landscape and they want it done by tonight, and it's 3:45 pm by the time you get off the 1 hour phone call.
>Sadly, I could come up with even more extreme examples

also, any real graphics designer knows better then to post their work here. I sure as fuck wont. and if I even mention templates as a time and money saver for the client, you tards get foaming at the mouth.
>>
I'm about to finish college and have an art director position lined up.

I don't post my shit on here 99.99% of the time because I don't wanna get pinned down as someone from 4chan. I only come on here if I have esoteric questions that involve other shit involving graphic design.
>>
>>257232
you are shit, nigger
>>
If I post anything on /gd/ it's one-offs like a flicker album mash improvements on peoples designs when I've got some time to kill (ie Blue Game Studios redesign, Red Prince's copperplate, ect).
>>
>>257248
>grow up
You're on 4chan, mon ami. Die alone and hungry.
>>
Been full-time employed for 4 years now. I'm the only graphic designer in a 200-person research center.
It's mostly boring-ass projects, brochures and reports and stuff.
I hhhhate when someone wants to do an "infographic".
I lurk >>>/n/ mostly.
>>
I'm an agency owner/co-founder.

Pros post here all the time, but we aren't looking for crits. Just a place to bitch about design with each other and have a few laughs.

/gd/ is like our favorite shitty dive bar to go to after work. You don't come because of the atmosphere or the fine craft beer selection or the fuckable waitresses. You come because there's rarely anybody around, and no one is going to give you shit for lighting up a cigarette at your favorite booth. And yeah, you hope to god that you don't run into anybody you know.
>>
>>257315
>about to finish college

OP was asking if professionals posted here. Not students who think being almost nearly just about maybe finished with their degrees somehow means they've "made it".
>>
>>257416
I like that he has an "art director" job lined up.

Yep, sounds legit, let's bring the guy in who has 0 real world experience to manage our bullpen of designers.
>>

Hi, I'm Twenty-Something Student Portfolio and this is my brand new macbook. I've been hired to tell you all the best way to go about your work. BTW, have you guys heard about flat design?

Same, i only recently started lurking here since I'm burnt out with my current job of almost 3 years, trying to look for a better company now. Hopefully in the US. What are the chances I'd get a job or hell, even an internship over there coming from a SE Asian country?
>>

Dismal in larger markets. Look for up-and-coming areas with lots of new development going on. Also, start networking as soon as you hit the states. Higher-tier clients are gained and kept through relationships. It's very rare that a big dollar client is going to take a chance on an unknown and unaffiliated freelancer.

And not to come off cynical, but play into the fact that you're from another country. Look into agencies that do a lot of work for overseas firms, and use the cultural angle to your advantage. You might be stuck doing the same work here that you were in your current job for another year or two, but with networking comes new opportunities.

I genuinely wish you the best of luck, anon.
