I wanna do Graphic design as my career, but my high school has the shittiest Graphic Design Class. What should I do to proceed with graphic design? I'm really passionate about it and wanna do it. I honestly don't know how college works. Do I have to pay for the classes after I do the basics?

hey. I'm in the same boat. If i were you I'd start studying to become an adobe certified expert and taking a certiport in whatever software you like. this'll look good on your college application. the exams are simple enough.

I got started by just doing PS / AI tutorials online, then spending most of my free time designing random crap like logos for fake companies and typographic posters. I did that for about two years up until my senior year where I got accepted to a pretty good art school.

I don't know what your reasoning for that is but technical proficiency is one of the last thing colleges look at when considering someone for a degree in design. It is much more important to demonstrate understanding of basic graphic design principles and visual literacy.

brace yourself for the whole money making part. GD average salary is about 35k a year. yes it does go up over time but with the overflow of grads in that study it could be hard to find steady job and not just taking commissions

OP may be some copycat or some sort , but to answer this question . Why the fuck pay for classes and shit and not experiment on illustrator or photoshop and watch some tuts . Fucking kids dont understand that online everything is almost free . Basic as fuck .
