nah, I've seen some posted before that looked quite nice. Both more minimalist two-tone versions or full-blown illustrations. But its not like the mascot will ever be changed, so its not like it matters.
The thing with tux though is that he doesn't really stay on parts with modern designs, he doesn't look professional, while I like tux I just don't think I'd ever want to have him as a visible logo
