I get that once in a while company's have to change logos, but their new one is just crap. Not to mention how stupid the one main article form them about their new logo. They pretty much act like changing the colors of a mic icon = re-branding.
If they want to change it ok, but this one is just pure crap. Yahoo!s is a good example of cleaning up a logo, but still retaining some personality.

Yeah, that is the one part of it that I am sometimes eh on, but I guess it was a compromise for not having serifs. But at least they retained their original logo personality, while effectively refining and simplifying it.
Hell if they at least retained some form of the "bowl n loop" style little "g" it would look way better.

It's already perfect, my only complaint is that the font chosen is way too much on this whole lobotomized consumer shit. I guess my problem with it is the ideology that it represents instead of any sort of technicality or execution. It reminds me way too much that everyone is gradually turning into a baby.

The "G" is way too close to "o". It's too stiff overall, increase the distance between the letters to relax it a bit.
The "L" is too thin and because of it feels out of place.
All in all, a worse take on google's idea, but I like the G.

Google's new logo/branding is a good solve for the kinds of problems and issues that most people here don't even realize are problems and issues in the first place.
As an initial hater, it's grown on me - it's still very much Google... just sans serifs and a beat more consistent across the board. And works well with animations and a large variety of spaces.

I like this, but I think the ring of the G needs to be adjusted where it curves more sharply inward so it doesn't look so thick, and the bar should be the same thickness as the bars of the E or L.
The yellow is way too saturated and that brown/green looks like vomit.
This is before they changed the name to Google.
The logo change is in effect now on Google Books.
