I posted this question on biz, but since it's a slow board and I got bored waiting for the answer, I'm gonna ask here:
How can you make substantial money from an iOS/Android app? I have an idea for one, but I don't know shit about programming, so I need to know how much would it cost.
The app itself would be an offline dictionary of a specific language pair. This could be really useful and marketable because there aren't any normal electronic dictionaries for that language pair.

You buy into the App Store(s) and wait for their pay out. App Store is $99/y, Google Play is a one time fee of $25. Typically both pay 2-3 months in arrears.
You would be well versed in offering a limited, ad-supported version of the mobile app with limited functionality. Otherwise your audience is going to have to pay in to even test it out - increasing refund rates and the inevitability of piracy.
You're right -- >>>/biz/ is the proper board for this. I'm feeling jolly today so I won't report you for cross-posting. Consider asking what programming language you should use or some other shit to make it at least look like technology-related matters.
