Why do you need people to validate your opinion.

They serve two different purposes, they don't really compete against eachother.
>tapping to an image with background of your camera
>battles are not turn-based
>people consider this """fun"""
I guess I'm retarded

Geolocation isn't AR. Overlaying a 3D model on top of a camera image with no interaction between the two is not AR.

Even though Pokémon Go is not really a prime example of the possibilities of AR, it shows very clearly why VR is not going anywhere anytime soon. VR means shutting yourself out and looking like a lifeless retard, AR on the other hand really has the capabilities of bringing people together. I know some VR evangelists will say that you can meet people in VR, but we all know that this is just spastic horseshit for neckbeards.

>Autism Reality vs VVaifu reality
Gee whiz tough choice

there is interaction, but yes its really poor, they dont even take object collision or lighting into account
It's not a battle buddy
I'm afraid the PokeGo fad will die very quickly if they don't implement fights and duels against people you meet on the streets who also happen to be playing the game. It's essentially pointless otherwise and people will realize it sooner or later.

Barring deus-ex/GITS like human augmentation, VR will always be a fad - normies can't into the 90s wearable form factor of current VR tech.
Augmented Reality on the other hand is accessible enough where anyone with a 'smart' phone can use it - less cringey less investment.
Full immersion VR > everything else
