Hey /g/,
so my boss is pushing for me to choose a readymade NAS solution for our business (used mainly for storage and backup). The two pre-approved options I have are:
>QNAP TS-453U-RP with 4x4TB HGST drives in RAID 5
>bit cheaper option, offered with reduced price on XOPERO Server Agent license
>Synology RS815RP+ with 4x4TB WD enterprise drives in RAID 5
>more expensive but also offered with reduced price on Veeam Backup & Replication license
What are your thoughts on these devices ? Pros? Cons? Not gonna lie I never used a dedicated NAS device so any input is appreciated
I've had a lot of bad experiences with QNAP NAS's, they'd be fine for a home user imo, but I've used then in an enterprise setup when the budget was too shit to get anything else - We've always ended up regretting it, We've moved away from NAS solutions.
Of course ideally I'd want something dedicated to enterprise environment but at the moment the budget doesn't really allow me to go much higher. Anyway, are QNAP and Synology the only sorta worthwhile options in this price range? Maybe I should look into different model or company, I'm at a bit of a loss here.

In my experience EMC NAS's are alright.
