One year later windows 10 search is horrible. Have to rely on a third party program called everything /g/ has to admit that osx spotlight is god tier file search.

Fuck off Rajeesh.

Who even searches for files on their own computer? Don't you have everything properly classified in themed folders? Aren't you using a naming convention you created to label all your stuff? Last time I had to look up for something on my computer was in the Windows ME time.

Go back to your toddler FM with your color coding cancer.

and you can use spotlight from the shell 'mdfind'
>>55607669
Sure it does, but when you turn it off, it stays off.
Unlike Winblows 10, where update simply turn that shit back on, and other things don't give you the option to turn it off.
This is not even close to how MS is raping you.

I actually have spotlight results sorted to return apps first. That way, it's a built in-app launcher. Command space, *start* to type the app name ... and hit return to launch when the app appears in the search box.

I never used the built-in search function after they removed classic mode in XP. I use FileSearchEX instead.

>windows 10 search is horrible
Really? It's far better than the search for any other version of Windows. I can type in partial names for programs or abbreviations and the search just understands what I mean and brings up the proper program. What issues have you been having?

What the fuck is happening in your screenshot?

In my opinion having an utterly disorganized home folder and finding what you need with a key strokes is superior to nearly organized folders.
What is the best universal search program I can compile on *nix?
>>55610042
Doesn't always work. Usually it refuses to index certain files, such as standalone executables or certain "system" files (files without extensions, .dlls, etc.). It bothers me that if I search for an exe by its exact title, instead of having the exe be the first result, ini files or the folder (titled the same thing) will show up before it does.
I'm a huge winfag and I'll fully admit the shortcomings of search.
