Now if only you could actually buy a 480 for $199, and all games used Vulkan I would buy two 480s right now.

I see a slight sorting error in that chart. 5460 > 5453

This is true since like the 2k series.

Also why do i see the 480 ahead of the 980 on most benches but this one?

Shills

According to them

>its ok when nvidia "lies" about memory
>the gtx 480 isnt hot
>Two graphics cards against one is not okay unless nvidia does it. (two gtx 460's is ok since the 480 was not stable enough)
>Its ok when drivers lower performance
>Its ok when an IGP de-solders itself due to the sheer heat.

and the list goes on.

So AMD fails at dx11 drivers and doesn't have anything powerful enough to compete with Nvidia in the high end?

Not buying AMD for a while because of this then, was looking forward to an rx480/470 + Intel i3/zen budget pc.

GTX1060 benchmarks can't come soon enough.

>>
>>55582931
no, zen works in modules, 4 core modules, a two core module can work but with a working 4 core module in the die, a single 2 core module on the die couldnt work unless it had the bandwidth to the cache cut in half.

Zen is just the thing the use in the consoles but in like its final form or something, buffed up and shit.

Still, expect 4 core zen cpu's at i3 prices since amd tends to have better yields idk why, remember you could get a 3 core phenom for the price of an i3 back then i wouldnt be surprised if they did something like that again.

Also all we have to do it wait

>>

Look at the die, look at the console's cpu die.

It works in modules that share cache the entire die looks almost the same you fucking idiot, just improved ipc.

>AMD dominates in value for money.

not for anyone who doesn't mooch off their mothers, cards like the 390, especially once OCed, draw nearly 400w. the equivalent nvidia cards draw much less, the 970 tops out at 187w unless you voltmod and the 1060 will probably top out at 85-100w.

Zen's "Module" design is the same as the current APU lineup. 1 core per module. Of course there will be budget dual and quad core options based on Zen.
>>
>>55584156
>Zen's "Module" design is the same as the current APU lineup. 1 core per module.

wut? AMD's APUs are all two 'cores' per modules, which is the bulldozer shared resources shit design.

each core is zen is a real independent core, but they're organized into groups of 4 (you can only disable all 4 physically, any other cores will be disabled through microcode like phenom ii cpus were).

I don't remember anyone saying 480 wasn't hot. The argument was that nobody gives a hoot. Which is just as valid as saying 390x is a decent alternative to Gtx 980 despite taking lots of power and running hot.

And no you can't bring up aib versions because the notion that gtx480 is hot hinges on the reference design.
>>
>>55584329
>The argument was that nobody gives a hoot.

everyone should care about it, having to draw 2x the power (therefore put out twice the heat) just to match the performance of your competitor is pretty shitty. fermi was terrible because of this and so was hawaii.

Hawaii never had 2x the power draw of its competitors. It pulled only 20-30w more than kepler and not to ofar off that against maxwell.

the 390/390x rebrands do because AMD had to push the clocks and voltage up massively to compete with maxlel.
>>
>>55584477

>perf/watt

That however does not measure actual power draw. Plus that specific 390x is the highest clocked hawaii based card in existence (at 1100mhz core) which a very, very high voltage.

the msi 390x is 1.25v out of the box, which is stock voltage for the 390x.

Zen CPU cores share an fpu cores half per half combined with 8 cores that gives you only 4 real cores with 16 threads and 3ggz max boost under the cache bottleneck since AMD put 6mb for l3 and 512 l2 cache power limited by 95 watts

Nvidia sold thousands upon thousands of defective GPUs between 2005 and 2010 in over 50 different models of laptops. There was a class action lawsuit about it[1] that reached settlement. Unfortunately, like most class action lawsuits, the only people that really won were the lawyers.

My sister had one of the models affected by it (HP TX1000). It ran so hot that the GPU desoldered itself from the motherboard. I had to reflow the solder on the motherboard for her (fancy way of saying "Stick that piece of shit in the oven") around four times before it gave up the ghost completely and her laptop became non-functional.

IKR just avoid laptops with Nvidia cards and get a AMD one with APU if your gonna game on it

The amount of people I know that have had problems with Nvidia cards and just cards that died is just too many to count I mean yeah they do make good graphics cards but AMD cards are far more rekuabke

1/10, got me to reply, nevermind that 16.7.[1/2] not only reprogrammed the RX 480 to draw less power from the motherboards, but improved its performance in every area.

oh, let's not forget the fact if you undervolt the top 3 p-state voltages of the 480 in Wattman from 1.400v to 1.050v, you'll not only get an insane reduction in powerdraw, but you'll also run cooler, thus enabling the card to run things faster (because it can hold the boost clocks without getting hot)

but, sure, lets run on outdated information.

The Zen core arch does not use the FlexFPU.
Each core has an independed FPU. They share nothing but an L3.
