Hey, /g/ my old R9 290 is failing so I want to upgrade. I sort of want to just buy a 1070 but I have a 1440p 144hz monitor w/freesync.
I was going to just buy the 1070 or 1080 and say fuck the Freesync but then I saw the benchmarks for Vulkan.
So which should I do?
1. Buy a quality 1070/1080 now
2. Recieve the benefit of Freesync and increasing vulkan performance with a RX 480 and selling once Vega releases

JUST.
WAIT.
you're dropping down that kinda money, you might as well wait nigger.
>>55580032
well you already have freesync so go with amd.
if you didn't, i'd go with a 1070
>>55580032
>1440p 144hz
Obviously get a 1080, vulkan won't be widely used for a long while
>1440p 144hz monitor w/freesync
Even if it wasn't soft locked to AMD by freesync waiting would be wise. You want HBM2.
Wait for Navi

What about buying a 1070 and selling that once HBM2 cards come out? Would that be viable? I have no idea about used card value.
JUST WAIT OP WAIT FOREVER, WAIT FOR THE RXII 690x
>>55580032
Just waitâ„¢. Why buy a GPU when the next gen will be better?
>>55580032
If it is failing as in dying then just get a Sapphire Nitro RX 480 and then sell it and get the 490 later on.
>>55580480
If it's a nonreference you will only lose about $80 at best.
>>55580032
go full goyim mode and buy a titan p when it launches in 6 weeks. it's ~40% faster than a 1080 fe.
Wait yourself into a coffin
Get a 480, it's an improvement on the 290 anyway.
>>55580032
Wait til it actually fails.
Help guys since I dont have budget yet for a videocard
Is my current video card, gt630, better or worse than a intel hd 530 of i5 6600 which Im playing to buy.
If you already have freesync, wait for the next line up of AMDs 4xx line up. Or you can get the 480 now and sell it later. But to me, that takes awhile. To find a good buyer who won't ask for it to be a lower price than what you want to sell it at. Dont get Nvidia because you'll just be wasting that freesync. But if you dont care. Get the 1080.
490 is releasing in one month, it will be somwhere between 1070/1080 performance, which means it will be better than the 1080 4 months after release.
>>55580032
As you have freesync you will be better off waiting for Vega

As someone who has a custom cooled Fury X, that's exactly what I'm doing. Navi or better, no other choice will do.
