How important is knowing software development methodologies (such as agile, spiral, waterfall, etc.) in professional software development? Is it something you need to know in order to get a programming job?

yeah, I know, that's why I'm asking
Not really. Every company has their own version of the methodology they claim to use anyway. And absolutely none of them work for their intended purpose.
Agile@waterever company != true agile
No shit, the only thing worth knowing is not methodology as every company implements its own, but cultivating technical competence.
You won't get paid learning new stuff. You will get paid getting shit done.
In order to still be bankable, you have to work at home learning new tech and keeping up with the Joneses.
