I think my Macbook may have just saved my life.
I'm sitting on my bed with a ChinkPhone plugged into my Macbook retina charging. An alert popped up (like pic related) saying the USB device was drawing too much power. I pulled out the micro-USB and it was **HOT** where it goes into the phone, and smelled like burning! A few more minutes of that and I assume I'd be looking at a house fire.

Nice blog mate, now go back to eating shit from your hands.
>>55572893
>Laptop tried to burn down house
>Catch it in the act
>Thank the laptop
Are you retarded?
It wasn't your phone, it was just your Dual Core i7 throttling and burning to a crisp.
I think it was actually the cable. That's where the smell seemed to be coming from (where it went into the phone). Not sure what would cause it to spontaneously short out. Spooky stuff.
You better write a thank-you letter to your lord and master tim cuck, you wouldn't want to be an ungrateful gentile, would you?
>>55572893
What's the truck icon OP?
>>55573102
Not my screenshot. I was too worried about burning to death or having an exploding phone bomb to take one in the moment.
>>55573102
Transmit.
>>55572963
Eh..
Is this something PCs also do?
>us flag
>24 hour clock

You clearly don't understand how amperage works. The device drawing power controls how much flows, the delivering device only has control over the maximum amperage, which is what saved OP in this scenario.
Based Apple saves the day once again!
>>55573911
>You clearly don't understand how amperage works. The device drawing power controls how much flows
How does it do that?
By changing resistance?
Op, were you using quick charge?

No it's a cheap chinkphone, charges slow as fuck and never gets how because it's so underpowered.
I really think it was the cable. Somehow shorted out (no idea where I got the cable from, but no issues with it before). Never heard of a cable doing that before (but have had cheap chink chargers throw off sparks and burn).

>iToddlers have to be saved by their OS
You realize this is a feature of any OS, right

Sometimes cables will short due to usage, spooky stuff and shit luck
You got lucky it didn't fry your MB and your chinkphone
>>55572893
>Macbook
>house fire
Not surprised.
>>55572893
Androids are pieces of shit, They all have overheating issues, Leave an android phone sitting out in the sun for 5 minutes and it will start throwing warnings left and right.
They don't have aluminum chassis to keep them cool like iphones.
that's why you don't buy a fucking ching chong bootleg phone you retard.

So your shitty malfunctioning facebook machine overcharged your phone and killed it. Not surprising with the low quality chinktrash applel shits out. Can't even regulate and restrict the amount of power their USB ports put out. What a fucking joke of a company.
>>55575371
Unfortunately thinkpads are now owned by lenovo. Which has been known for cheaper quality control
>>55574055
That's one way of changing the current draw. Basically increasing load.
>>55576259
Actually idiot the fact that your phone got hot proves your Mac is shit. Any generic PC would have stopped that before anything got hot
> plugging phone into pc
>>55576729
This.
Tried using a USB/SATA adapter before on a 2.5" 7200RPM drive and my laptop just refused to provide full power to it. It would spin up and then instantly spin down when it realized the computer wasn't supplying enough power. No issues with a 5400RPM drive.

>Mac tries to destroy android phone
>warns you to make it seem unintentional
Apple is taking this too far.
i dont get it, a laptop usb port can barely provide 500 fucking ma, it was more likely a short in the battery causing the heat
